D.W. and I are looking at the new A.C.E Motorhome .Does anyone out there own one ? Salesman said they are selling alot of them.Unfortunately that does not give me real info. I need to read real owner experiences on this motorhome. We want to use the A.C.E as a starting point to see if motorhoming is for us.If we like it ,then we will go to something larger in the future. Thanks for your help

I haven't seen anyone online who has one, but here's a thread on another forum where they were discussed a few months ago, with some additional informational links...
Thor A.C.E.
Hope this helps!

RVfor2-Long time since your Sept 10 post However, I just recently (May 2011) purchased the A.C.E from CW in Houston. Not a lot to comment on just yet although the following might be of interest. Most of the actual locks on the exterior storage bays do not lock properly. Interior molding at bottom right of shower adjoining carpet into bedroom was warped. Kitchen cabinet drawer to right of sink would not latch and was almost a problem with slide. Generator tailpipe/muffler had a spark arrestor come loose and fall off. I was parked and heard a rattling noise as I was standing by generator and then the noise stopped as the screw vibrated loose and this 3" brass with conical screen insert fell out of generator muffler. Biggest issue at this time I believe is the "cooking off" of the formaldehyde and other construction materials inside the new coach. I did have mild headache as well as nausea the first time I spent 5 or 6 hours in the coach. Time and off gassing will hopefully remedy this problem. Will keep you updated as time goes on

Came from owning a 31' TT for a year. Definitely preferring this to the TT. Setup has been a breeze. Don't have stabilizers yet. Not sure if we'll put the money into them.
Can second the new RV smell cook off issue. No problem, just cracked the ceiling vents and it hasn't been an issue since.
Minor situation with the sofa arm. Too many teenagers using the arm as a rail when coming up the stairs. 8 screws later and it's pretty secure. When we get back from our trip to PA, I'll put an angle bracket in place and won't worry any more.
No other issues that we've seen so far. First trip was an hour away from home for the weekend. This is the second with a 6 hour drive to our destination.
Will be making a major trip from MI to ME later this summer and hopefully a trip from MI to OK this fall.

I purchased the ACE three days ago. Several minor problems noted were fixed before leaving the dealership.
The most note worthy was the shower. The top of the stall did not contact the wall. The gap allows water between surfaces. Tech stated adhesive won't hold. I had them use small screws and silicone to ensure the repair would work.
Exterior storage doors do not seal unless both latches are closed. I discovered standing water inside the rear storage bins after a down pour. Some other latches were locked but not latched over the gasket leaving the door seal ineffective. Dealer was sloppy because several hinges appeared to have residual rust colored stains on the undersides. Some keylock switches on the doors were cheaply made and looked a bit like corrosion was starting. Generally, the doors are of light weight material and cannot withstand leaning on when open--- the hinges would tear out.
Still love the coach and we are cleaning and working to get things the way they should be.
Bedroom TV wiring at cable outlet is not connected to antenna or routed to the front living area -- I will contact the dealer/manufacture to figure it out.
Lots of minor newbee stuff to figure out.
We are planning a 3k trip next month with a toad on a carrier and will write results.

8dam/shadowT--Glad to see someone else posting with ACE. While we haven't slept all night in coach as of yet the off gassing appears to have been successful at this time. Have either of you weighed your coach yet? Each time I've tried to there have been several semi's waiting and they or the process seems to take quite a while. I've never had a MH before the ACE but I think DW and I will love it. Short trips only to date just to get some seat time. Haven't convinced DW to do her time yet but her time will come. I did notice a slight bit of steering wheel play but very slight at least as compared with SUV's which have virtually no play. Do you have Continental tires, and have you tried getting a spare(national backorder). Our first real trip will be in Sept to the White River in arkansas for some trout fishing and hopefully some cooler weather. Keep posting.

We have not weighed yet. Our first trip is approaching - Pensacola to Seattle at the end of the month. Much to do to get ready. We will fully trailer a Sonoma one-way using a U-Haul. We have Continental tires with no spare or tools but Platinum Gold Sams road service. Most people on Class A do not change their own tires - danger and extra weight reasons. I read all your other posts - TY.
We are having an In-Motion Satellite and Sleep Number bed installed next week. My cell phone provides Internet to the laptop so I'll be connected and have a great dedicated GPS for the trip.

ShadowT- We may end up being jealous about the sleep# bed. We got a topper to try first and then we'll decide about different bed. My back doesn't expect me to change a tire either so we also went the road service route, however, I did purchase an unmounted same size continental tire that IF roadservice can't find an acceptable tire I will have one they can put on. Especially as affects the dually's if a tire is slightly different(even if same size) major problems can result. Anyway, have fun on your trip be safe and make sure you post how everything worked out.

Great thought about the spare tire; where are you going to store it? What is the cost or best price? I assume it is unmounted or are you buying the rim and tire?

I've never been even remotely lucky when it comes to flats so I am perhaps somewhat paranoid about not being prepared for that PROBABILITY. My spare is not mounted and for now will be stored in the rear cargo hold. My intent will be to install a carrier attached to undercarriage at rear of chassis, however, thats down the road a ways. Unlike your upcoming trip and storage requirements we will be traveling fairly light (maybe deluding myself) as our trips will be in the 600 mile range. Most any reputable tire dealer can do a national tire search and locate one of our tires and then order it. 5 to 7 day wait for delivery. IF I UNDERSTAND CORRECTLY it is necessary to confirm (if using different tire brand than presently installed) that width and other measurements are comparable to the Continental tire as this can lead to problems if there are differences, specifically on duals. So I've been concerned if roadservice supplied a goodyear, toho, firestone or other to what degree will they truly be compatable. Several older posts have mentioned roadservice replacing with same size tire (different brand) but blowing out 300 or so miles later due to some slight difference. Thats my reasoning for paying an additional $350.00 for a same brand spare. Perhaps one of the tire guru's will see this and offer some expert guidance. Later!

Decided today to have my Sonoma shipped. I believe the almost 2900 miles towing a trailer may result in a 1-2 mpg loss and adding the trailer rental at $675 with tax and a hitch pushes trailering into a $1100 experience with towing a long train (my 30 feet plus 20 more). When considering the mountains and maneuvering, I think it is better to ship it. This is our first trip and there is no need to stress over it. Besides, I really want to see if we can get the mythical 8-11 mpg @ 55 mph...LOL, doubtful - but I gotta try. The RV is new and we will have less than 100 miles on it at the start (aside from the 1000 put on it arriving from the manufacturer). Departure set for 1 Sept.

In today's RV Traveller news letter, there's a link to a test report on the A.C.E. The writer borrowed one from the factory and did a trip of several days.

Dealer in NH Camping World told me of their's taken for road test by FMCA. He would send me link. OK not here yet.
Wife says many on youtube. Said trailer hitch rated 5,000 Lbs., and can be up-fitted to 10,000 Lbs.
They just got another EVO29.1 in Sunday.
We want an A.C.E. EVO29.2.
