JACK antenna

Anyone put a JACK antenna in the coach? Will it work with the BOMB?

Tom,
I have installed a Jack antenna in my last coach, and when I bought the new coach in June, I had them remove the batwing and install a Jack. I like it and it is easy to install. If you need help just call me. 389-8865.

Did you change the antenna head or install a complete unit?

I just replaced the head unit on mine. Very simple. Just pull two pins from the old antenna and put the jack in its' place.
That's all you have to do. Everything still works the same.
Seems to be stronger than the Winegard, but I haven't had it out in the sticks yet to test it properly.

I don't have a jack but know many who do,

Will it work with the BOMB.. yes, it will, skip the power insertion module if you have the older Winegard bomb that provides that service, Same power.

The Jack that came standard on my Winnie Vista far outperforms the Batwing that was on my previous Hurricane.

We went on a trip with our friends, they have a new 40' Holiday Rambler with the Jack antenna. We stayed at 5 different places during our trip, I was amazed at what stations he could pull compared to my bat wing, and the picture quality was excellent. I decided to buy one, it's a 30 minute installation. We are really happy with it. Worth the money. And it looks kinda cool.

Made a bracket and mounted the Jack head on the batwing base. Works great and no more cranking up and down.

I installed the Jack head in place of the batwing. It works much better than the Winegard. The only problem I had was a banging noise while driving. Solution; I glued 2 Styrofoam faucet covers to the underside of the Jack and no more banging. I like the idea of an adapter to mount the Jack to the batwing base, I will look into that.

Says it comes with a "wall mounted power switch". It's my understanding that the power is provided by the coax cable from the BOMB.
Did you have to use the power switch?

Tom,

There is a good blog on iRV2 that explains the "Jack" installation including step by step pictures;

Thanks!
