hey guys got a 2006 THOR FOUR WINDS HURRICANE and my warranty has expired by 4 months . THOR FOUR WINDS warranty dept about the jensen vr 185 is only for 1 full year from time of new purchase.
i talk to ASA ELECTRONIC which makes the JENSEN VR 185 and they told me Britney Lucas customer service that the radio is fully warranty for 2 years from time that I purchase new with the M/H which was feb 2006. 2 yrs or 24,000 miles warranty , and my odometer is shows 7,100 and only 17 months since brand new feb 2006.
They ASA Electronic sent me a tool to remove the radio .
My question is does anybody ((FRANKIE)) got your ears on? how to remove this radio or do i have to remove the dash to get it to come out. In the manual i see a bracket that might hold the rear from shaking. My unit does not shake , that is why i think that there is a bracket then i will have to remove the dash. last time the dealer had to remove the dash to in stalled the rear view monitor for the rear view camera , they crack both dash vent that are right up against the windsheilds. for the defoster.
PLEASE NEED ADVICE , the dealer also said that i will have to leave the m/h with them for 4 to 5 week they are swap with orders.

Has anybody removed the radio . my problem is the cd does not work and get this i have never until about 2 weeks ago even tried the cd player. it shows a ERROR 01 and after I called the jensen company ASA ELECTRONIC in IN. they trouble shoot it with me over the phone and yes the CD player is out of adjustment or damage. part . Needs a complete replacemnt.

You have to remove the face plate and tool will go in two slots on each side of radio to release locking latch. The housing, metal box, will stay in dash. You may have to free up some slack in wiring to pull radio out so you can unplug wiring plugs. I had two tools for each side of radio if you have only one you can still remove just hold side released out with screwdriver until other side is released.

George, the removal tools are two pieces of v shaped steel rod, about 2 inch x 6 inch. The radio sit in a chassis of sorts.Stick in tools ,one on each side left and right. You will know where when you hold the tools up to radio.Pushing in unlocks a clip on each side and releases the radio. I had to fiddle with mine a couple times, but it comes out. Check your black bag for tools.

Thanks Frankie and 007 , for quick reply. I just ask my better half if any small package arrived since July 26 since that was the date I talk to ASA ELECTRONIC and now she tells me that a package is on my office desk, been there for 6 days it arrived on the Aug 1 .
When to the office and sure enough there it was . From ASA ELECTRONIC I open it up and there inside is the 2 tools looks like pin that u shaped , directions to place in all four holes and pull gently till it comes out the radio. The frame stays in . NOW my question is I just hope and it is not braced behind with a bracket and screw that they also sent me. It seeems that some coach builders put the extra small brace to keep it from shaking right on the back of the radio .
Got my fingers cross , I will be checking this Friday , let you guys know the outcome thanks again.
You guys are awesome. Once I get it removed the (radio) off it goes to ASA ELECTRONIC for full warranty as long as I sent them a photo copy of bill of sale and proof of mileage .They said they will charge THOR FOUR WINDS for repair or replacement. No cost to me except to shipped to them the radio. That to me is only fair, I can live with that.Get this guys the THOR FOUR WINDS and ASA ELECTRONIC are in the same city and state like neighbors ,
I know that I have bought the extened warranty on the same day as purchase of the m/h for 7 years and 84,000 miles warranty but that only covers all appliances and FORD motor and chassis and GENSET generator .
Will let you guys know on the outcome.
Sorry for long typing I have to quit going to STARBUCKS twice a day for noon time and back around 8 pm. Frankie , I did check my black bag with all the appliances manuals and no did not find any metal u shaped tools only the manual for the vr185 nothing tape to the manual . It seems that the dealer removed it , and that is why I am hoping that it is not braced from behind with that black plastic brace and small screw that comes with the 2 tools .

The metal box that is left on dash will be braced as mine is to prevent radio from bouncing around. I would leave until you get a replacement the new radio may fit in same box, if not than change it.

ok guys & gals . What was suppose to take only a few minutes top's turn out to be almost an hour and a half. Had to remove the dashboard , because after putting in the side tool pins it would side out the radio only about 1/8 of an inch.
yes, it was my lucky day and there was a bracket attached to the radio that kept it some coming out.
that is why the dealer did not want to fool with it , it would had to sit on the dealer lots for 4 to 5 weeks .
Good news it just got mailed out to ASA Electronics for repair today and i sent it insure for $600 and prority mail total $17.05 .Either they repair it or sent me a brand new replacemnet no cost to me other then the charge to sent it to them for repair or new replacement.. Got my fingers cross on brand new replacement.
The reason and Frankie are your ears ON!!!!!!!! for the brace is to keep it from shaking over bumping roads and from also from thefts. These radio are not cheap over $600 plus tax and then shipping charge.and that is to buy it and installed it your self.
If they sent me a brand new replacement then I will get a full 2 year warranty on it.
the THOR FOUR WINDS HURRICANE is only 1 full year from the date you purchase your m/h.

Now that you mentioned it that strap does go to a threaded bolt on back of radio, sorry about that. Will have to look at the back of mine sometime.
Congrats on your new radio.

good news guys , just got back from 2 long weeks at bahamas.
And I had a housesitter to watch over the lake house. And there on the office desk in the house by the hot tub and pool table was a seal box with a brand new seal new Jensen VR 185 newer version. Just finish reinstalling it took 7 minutes and it all works perfect.
Sounds like it is time for another ROAD TRIP thinking on going over to BRANSONS for a week or two to catch the shows and relax.

ASA ELECTRONIC has a great warranty dept.
My dealer ship only cover 1 full year from time i bought the coach . ASA will cover 2 full years for a complete brand new replacement.
