Kwikee steps

The steps have been working fine up to the other day. They go out smooth and quiet but when retracting they come in about half way and then start a really loud grinding or chattering sound until it is fully retracted. Sometimes pauses half way and kicking it gets it to go back in. I am going to spray all joints with WD40 but I doubt if it will help. Could it be the gear box?

Just to be clear--WD40 is a water displacement product, not a lubricant.....

X2, get a good spray lube like CRC or Boshield T9 and lubricate All Joints at least twice per year Minimum and your steps will work fine.

99.99% of step problems are due to lack of lubrication.

That's funny because the first thing on the can, and I just looked, says lubricates. I always used it for that and loosening up rusty bolts. But maybe I didn't read it right.

Have the same issue. Called Thor and LCI customer service. Both said Motor was bad. Waiting delivery to change. Should be a do it yourself job.
Will see.

I had to lube mine and the only thing I had on the road was a spray can of olive oil. Darn things have worked great after that. Quiet too.

If you read the owners manual it says not to use things like light spray lubricants on the steps. It is very specific about the type of lube to use.

But what would they know...
