Looking for a used Bunkhouse

We are currently in the market to switch over from a travel trailer to a Class A and really like the Hurricane/Windsport 34J floorplan. We aren't able to afford new right now but have found a few used ones that and piqued our interest. I had a couple of questions if anyone has time to offer their assistance.

1. What are things to look for when inspecting a used coach? I know some things but always looking for advice on more. My father is a mechanic of 60 years experience who will help with the engine so he will at least know what he is looking at. I am mechanically fairly ignorant.

2 What kind of pricing should I be looking for? We have a trade in that we of course owe more than is worth by a couple thousand but have it up for sale right now. We have seen 2017 used models offered for 3-5k less that new. That doesn't seem like nearly enough, but I am not sure what a good target is. For 5k buying new would make far more sense.

THanks for the assistance.

All Thor Motor Coach RV's and it's predecessors (Damon, FourWinds, and Mandalay Luxury Coach) are outfitted with the RV industries standard appliances and fixtures (aircon, jacks, etc) = no one-offs that are hard or expensive to maintain and repair. There are really no "chronic" issues except a period in 2013-2014 when the Schwintek slide drive was first introduced.

The Schwintek system was a major change in slide drive tech with no mechanical connection left to right. The system must be "driven" for 2-3 seconds after full-close or open to "sync" the two ends. Early adopters did not tell owners this and there were problems with slides being out of sync...sometimes so bad the slide could jam or be damaged. This is an item worth checking when shopping.

For pricing...it is all in what you want to pay. A good starting point is NADA RV, but that only gives retail pricing. Retail pricing gives credit to the seller for the RV being dealer prepped, the DMV paper work being dealer assisted, and other perks like financing being offered at the point of sale. Private sales "usually" would not demand the prices listed on NADA.

Best luck
