Mirror brackets corroding

Decided to clean the chrome on the Challenger today. Surprised to find that the chrome finish on the mirror brackets was corroding. Mirrors appear ok. Anyone experienced this?

Other postings on the Thor RV forum indicate that the mfg sometimes will replace them if a late model.

Our brackets and mirrors on our 37LX were corroded after about 5 months. Just had both mirrors and brackets replaced under warranty.
