Mods to ACE 29.2
I have read with interest the posts particularly related to our new ACE. Issues like mascerators, stabilizers and batteries come to mind. Starting from a new unit, what mods would you experienced folks do first? We have a relatively short period of time to get things ship shape before we set off on a 5 month road trip, so we would appreciate the advice.
BTW what does "DW" stand for? I have already figured it out that it refers to She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed.

Yes you have DW right
I would make that 5 month trip and then see what mods you want, spend your money based on your opinion not others on here. I have seen many posts here that people have spent thousands and not got the desired results that others reported. Especially mods that supposedly make the MH more drivable.
Congrats and have fun with you new toy.

You made a great choice! We love our ACE 29.2. There isn't anything that you have to modify right out of the shoot. If you are going to be driving much on that road trip, I would consider the "cheap handling fix" as one of the first to consider (just search for it under the Ford forum here at iRV). There is a thread below on ACE mods that has other suggestions. We also found it necessary to add some toddle stops to the pantry pull-out and tool drawer under the entry steps as we found these opened and closed while driving through the mountains (which we do quite often here in Colorado).
Congratulations on your purchase! Be sure and take it on a couple of weekend jaunts before starting the long journey. Oh, and be sure to reset your auto levelers if you have them as they are probably set too high by the factory and will drain your batteries if you don't.

We also love our ACE 29.2. Other than sticking a door stop under the pantry, we haven't made any mods to it. I do plan on doing the Cheap Handling Fix

I have the 29.1. I'm not sure if Thor fixed the issue, but on mine the top step that opens up in entry...I added a 3/4" plywood support glued and screwed underneath it. I am a 6' 250lbs and that step seamed to be flimsy when I stepped on it. My slide-out pantry and all other drawers including step draw is tight no Mod needed there for me. I did let Thor know they should use better glues on items they just glued! on the end of the dinette One just fell off, so I re-glued them with a good yellow glue and some paneling nails(perfect). I modified my sink as a had to do...DW melted it...I would bring some hand tools. I went to ikea and bought a 4" foam mattress and added it it the top of current mattress (existing mattress just too hard for multiple nights. Cheep handling fix(after 2years I have not done it and I have driven about 6k in 2yrs) I might do it this spring just cuz everyone loves it results. I read all the forum stuff about Thor...People say you get what you pay for, we'll I think I payed good hard earned money for my ACE and to be honest...Thor has not let me down and my ACE is Great and lots of fun. congrats and welcome. 5 months on the road, where are you going? Hope it's all for fun! With the new Ride it should be.

We have a 2012 29.1 and love it. Knock on wood no problems. No serious mods, just an additional handrail for DH. And the tire pressure monitors.
Enjoy we are happy with our purchase.

Thanks everyone. I have made a list of your suggestions. I also understand that we need to find out what we want rather than relying on what others think, but I wanted to tap into the knowledge out there.
We are in Ontario - our trip includes a visit to our son's home in California, friends in Florida and family in North Carolina with all the points of interest in between. That should take a while.

I highly recommend the cheap handling mod. Rocking, rolling, swaying, etc is now acceptable. People do not get nauseous as passengers now.

I have now done the Cheap Handling Fix. While it doesn't make the coach handle like a Ferrari, it does dramatically improve the handling. It took me about an hour and a half to do.

Just completed about 1400 miles with both the Cheap Handling Fix and the 5-Star tune. Both make quite a difference going up and down the Colorado mountains and through the wind. The 5-Star actual holds the speed in cruise going down the mountains as well as up without over-revving. And the CHF really makes it fun to drive past trucks. Keep them in mind.

I have read a lot about the CHF however the 5-Star tune is new to me. Where can I read more about it.
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It makes it a little easier for a newbie to set out on this adventure.
