New thor ace owner 30.1

Picked up new unit (2014 ace 30.1) the middle of april, stoped at palestine, tx
to fill with gas, forgot to clear the pumps before turning (ouch). Took it to
FIRST MONDAY in Canton tx for the weekend, 1/2 of electric outlets did not
work and lots of rattles in the dash. Made appointment with motorhome
wholesalers to fix problems and they did a great job on fixing both items.
Went to leave the dealership and generator stop running, bad fuel pump on
generator, they said. I'M Having to take to Houston to fix. Have appointment for
STEER SAFE at Houston also, I might try the cheap fix also later.
There seems to be alot of problems with generators in the ace units.

WOULD I BUY A ACE AGAIN? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS THE SALES STAFF AND SERVICE AT MOTORHOME WHOLESALERS WERE GREAT

Hello Doorman, and welcome to the ACE ownership club. From what I've read a lot of new coaches have problems (not just Thor), it doesn't look as if QC at the end of the build is done as well as it should be.

So you hit a gas pump, NOT Thors fault!
Bad Fuel Pump, NOT Thors fault!
a few rattles in the dash, what new motorhome DOESN'T have a few rattles to fix?
So since half the electric outlets didn't work, you hate your motorhome and would never buy another ACE?

We love or 30.1 and hopefully I won't jinx us, but I'll add that that other than the hot/cold water switched at the kitchen sink at delivery, she's problem free.

I'd say the dash rattle is a Thor issue, genny fuel pump is down to Cummins Onan warranty and electrical outlets not working should maybe have been checked as part of your PDI walkthrough? We've bought 3 coaches and on every one I have used an electrical tester on the outlets.

Motor Homes are large, complex systems. I'd say your initial warranty issues are no worse than average. Can't help you about whacking the gas pump though.......

Hitting gas pump, was stupid on my part, damage wasn't that bad. Short in electrical
should have been caught at factory and dealership. 2 screws missing out of dashboard (poor workmanship). Generator problems, seems to alot of overheating
in ace 29 models. I'm getting over my madness.

HAPPY TRAILS

Where is your generator located? I no longer own an ACE, but I did read that Thor has moved the generator to the back of the coach to address the overheating problem.

There is another thread on the generator where there is a fix by adding more air access to the generator when it is in the location that you have. Basically, they add a grill or vent to the door cover. I think it looks a bit tacky. Give us feedback when you learn more.
