Yeah, batteries are expensive so I won't rush into that. Right now I'm more concerned about getting a mount for the stinky slinky. Either make one like in the hula hut, or just buy a pre-made one from CW. After all is said and done, the prices seem so close I may just buy the pre-made and save myself the trouble.

I've considered solar. Heck, I can probably get a pretty good solar kit for the price of two batteries. Like you said, I'll wait to see how much power I need before spending too much on the fancy stuff. I think satellite and/or washing machine might be a higher priority.

This is just the way I did it...used a heavy screw-close "D" Ring through one of the pre-drilled holes in the top of the ramp-lift guide channels.

And, you can see there are 2 "stand-off" or spacer bolts in the top and bottom holes to ensure the channel does not flex or collapse.

Check out this stinky slinky option, looks very nice and holds the Rhino Flex:

Will a vent cover over the bedroom vent end up being the tallest part of the rig? I don't want to increase the height any further. I don't mind if it restricts the amount the vent can open.

Also, any vent covers that will allow the Maxx-Air vents (or is it some other vendor?) to open all the way? Since they are all automatic, I don't see a way to limit how far they open. I'd like to put a cover on at least the one in the salon area and maybe one over the bathroom vent. I'd like to be able to leave them open when it rains.

I have been looking at these too and yes it will.

We have had no problem with height any where so far so I plan on putting Maxx-Air covers on the loft and garage vents.

Scott (Focker) has them on his Outlaw. If you look at some of his posts of his solar set-up you should be able to see them and how the affect the height of the coach.

I installed vent covers on three places. Bathroom, loft, and rear garage. Only the one in the rear garage area added any appreciable height difference and that was only about 1 1/2 inches in total. My vents stay open about 2" all the time except during winter when I usually close the garage and loft. My overall height came in right at 13' 4" after I installed the vent covers.

Hope that helps.

I really like our Maxx Air vents. They don't add much to the height at all and it is nice to have the venting in the back and bathroom areas while going down the road. The only reason I don't have the one over the loft is because it would have caused a shadow on the solar panels so it was removed. I would bet you can get some used ones cheap from AM Solar, they have a bunch of laying around .
