What is best way to support rear chassis of a 2008 31H Hurricane. I tow a long trailer within weight but still causes a sag on rear suspension. I had the chassis structure strengthened for hitch to make it a safe tow.
Should i try air bags as that will allow a smoother ride when not towing over spring strengthening that are not adjustable or is there a better way???

Airbags or beef up the spring pack.A good chassis shop can add a leaf or two.Thats going to affect your ride unloaded, how much? Cant say but couldnt be any worse than all that hitch weight. How does it affect your front end?

I linked this to Motorhome problems, solutions and aftermarket, maybe get some other insight.

It affected the front end enough to bring my headlights slightly high and was an issue following my cousins rig down to Florida last month, unit pulls great great just want to correct this issue the right way only once.

PS. Mussina should have walked Manny on sat, but thats another issue. What were they thinking?

If you have that much tounge weight you need an equilizer hitch to take the weight off the rear axle.

Your trailer may be within your weight limits but what does the tongue weigh? It sounds to me like you have well over 500lbs tongue weigh to make you sag that bad. It is a simple process to check your tongue weigh at home. My boat has a tongue weight of 240 and ATV trailer of 320 and I don't sag at all. I would make sure of the tongue weight and look at getting the equalizer hitch to take that load off the hitch.

GaryGoFast, we had to get a Equilizer for the enclosed car trailer. . It made a big different
Also air bags for the rear axle of your m/h set them at max pressure.

I use stabilizer bars, this is a 28 ft Aluminum enclosed car trailer, I have a lot of tongue weight due to a golf cart up in the front of the trailer in front of a car.
The stabilizers help a lot but would like to take some of the load off the tongue and distribute it better. I figured the easiest way was to install air bags. Just trying to keep my options open.

Have you weighed your rear axle with the coach loaded and the trailer attached. The biggest concern I would have is with the carrying capacity of the rear axle and the rear tires.

I don't believe it is considered an accepatble practice to use an equalizing hitch on a motorhome. Anyone considering this should get this in writing from the manufacturer of their coach before proceeding. Just because the receiver that is installed on the coach may be rated for an equalizing hitch it does not mean that the coach it is installed on matches that rating.

Play it safe so you won't be that other thing.

This chassis has been modified to handle this type of hitch & the trailer is rated at 6000lbs per axle. I guess the air bags is the least expensive, most practical and will offer the extra cushion I'm looking for.

I guess another concern is rear bias loading with a heavy tongue weight and the short wheelbase... your center of gravity will likely be behind the rear axle. The manufacturers place disclaimers on their specification sheets relating to weight issues to protect themselves. If your are involved in an accident pulling the loaded trailer, the HP will definitely addresss the weight issue with you.
