We are picking up our new Redwood 36 FB on Friday. Any other Redwood owners out there?

dlovitt,
Congratulations on your new Redwood . We are trying to sell the stix and brix so we can go full time and have been seriously looking at the Redwood line. They seem to be very well built and have a comfortable feeling about them. I have have posted on several other forums but so far no one seems to own one or they just don't want to post about it. If you would, please post your initial thoughts about your rig both the good and the bad ( hopefully nothing serious of the latter ) after you receive it and you have had a chance to check it out. Once again, congratulations and I hope you have many years of happy usage.

This is a fairly new line so not too many owners yet. Check out their website if you haven't already. Our initial impression is very good quality. We like that the parent company is Thor and they seem to have made a major commitment to make Redwood a top-of-the line coach.
A glitch with my trade (repair not done on time) kept us from taking delivery today as planned but we did do the walkthrough. A tech (not a salesman) did the walkthrough and did the best job I've ever seen (seventh RV we have bought over our lifetime). He did the prep and his only complaint was that there were only four minor things he had to repair so not much revenue from the manufacturer.
We will post more insights as we are doing a shake down over Labor Day and then are heading out for three months' of travel. Should have a pretty good idea of the quality by the time we get home.

Don't bother with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) option.. The panel showing the pressures is in the wet bay. Not exactly useful going down the road-when you really need the information!

The technicians tried all day today to get the auto leveling system (Lippert) to work. No luck so far. It's pretty frustrating when that is the one feature that really sold us on this product.

dlovitt,
Thank you for the up date. That is interesting about the TPMS, I agree that if the information is not accessible while going down the highway then it is not worth paying extra for. Sorry to also hear about the problems with the self leveling system, hopefully it is nothing major. It surprises me the dealer didn't find this problem during their initial prep, luckily you found it before leaving the dealership. I hope they get everything worked out so you can keep your plans for the long weekend. Please keep posting as time goes on, both the good and bad.

System was "brain dead". After brain transplant, system works great!

1. Cable TV input in wet bay apparently not connected through to TV. Cable directly to back of TV (through window) works.
2. Grey tank valve leaks-don’t know which one it is yet.
3. Surround sound not hooked up to TV.
4. Kitchen faucet comes loose at base.
Nothing big so far.

Glad to see an actual owner's comments, thank you! I just joined this forum, and we are seriously considering a Redwood for full-timing in the not too distant future (soon as the stix & brix sells) and hope you continue to post like you have - the good, the bad and the ugly! I am glad you were able to find and fix at least some of the problems before your Labor Day trip! Bummer about the TV, etc. Hope it didn't ruin the holiday!
Are you full-timing, and will you have it in cold weather this winter? I believe you said you would be using it for 3 months, so that should be a good test! We would be using ours in Canadian winters, though in the milder (to us) Coastal parts of the country, but it will still be below freezing, so I am interested if the insulation works as well as they claim, and any thing else you can tell us.
Looking forward to getting out there ourselves
Marian and Robin

Had to tighten water line connection under kitchen sink today-had a small water leak. Teflon tape on the threads, tightened-problem solved.

Not quite full timing; about half timing We have satellite dish so cable issue not too serious. Warranty will fix the cable issue. We will be getting into some cooler weather as the trip evolves but hopefully not that cold. We were able to keep cool with two 15,000 A/C's in 100+ temps so insulation seems to be pretty good.
I think main problem in below 32 degree weather will be keeping your water supply line from freezing. There are hoses out there with heat tape wrapping. Might be a good idea to look into one.

dlovitt,
Thank you for the up date on your trip. Glad to here the problems don't sound to serious and should be an easy fix. We just had a promising showing of the stix and brix, so hopefully we will be able to go full time soon. We are still leaning toward the Redwood and your updates are very helpful, thanks again and look forward to more of your insights.

Glad to hear that the water leak was an easy fix, Hope there are no warranty hassles on the cable, and happy that the A/C works so well. We would get the one 30k rather than the 2 15k I think. I'd rather have one unit to worry about than 2, but it sounds as though the insulation is doing its job.
Regarding the water, we would use the water tanks, and fill with the hoses when necessary, but we will use heat tape as necessary; we lived in a mobile home back in the day, and had to use heat tape on the plumbing underneath so are quite familiar with its use. I imagine its improved since then! We will also skirt it with an insulated skirting of some sort as well. Thanks for the good advise, hope you continue to have only minor (or no more) problems with the Redwood!
