Smile Slide Magic

We have a Thor Tuscany XTE w/the heavy fridge on the slide. On a recent trip back from a stay down in South Texas, that slide was making a lot of heavy creaking and popping noises. "Great", I thought, "I've got a bad slide".

So I put the MH away until I could run up to the local dealer. The last thing I wanted was to run the slide out and have a problem where it wouldn't go back in and I'm not at the shop! So I did that this morning - drove to the shop and explained the situation. The tech asked if it was a Schwintek. "Yep". He grabbed a can of CRC Power Lube and we went to run out the slide. Creak, creak. Away he went - lubing the tracks completely - the channels and the gear track.

We ran it in and out twice, perfectly. On the way back to the storage lot, not one creak. Quieter than the day it was new.

He said that Winnebago told him it was the ONLY lube to use on Schwintek, they've used it ever since, and it solves the creaking pretty much every time.

Hats off to Rich at Ronnie Bock's RV in Kerrville, Texas.

Thanks for the post. I'm sure it will help others with their " creaks. "

Where do you get it, and do you have the details on the product. Have seen several versions on line and at Home Depot, etc. Want to try the stuff.

I got the CRC Power Lube at Amazon for around $7.50 per can. There are also some listings on Amazon foe $14 per can. Look carefully.

I was also told that you could get it at Fastenal. My local store did not stock it and wanted an order for a case.

Also found it on Amazon - but there are two varieties - both in green aerosol cans & both labeled CRC Power Lube with PTFE, but one is specifically labeled as a "DRY" lube.

Does anyone know which is supposed to be used?

Thanks for any feedback!
