Was the locksmith able to make a key when you didn't have one to go with??

No, I had the set to go by.
Didn't ask if they could make them without the originals.

Spare keys

The OP had none to go by. I always wondered if the locksmith could make a set just using the lock??

We had a couple made at our lot without the key. They stick a blank key in the lock. Turn it and look at marks on the blank. Then file down the key until there is no more marks on the key. (The tumblers that are stopping the key from turning leave a mark on the key blank.)
