Step Fuses in a Serrano 31x

Does anyone know where the fuses for the steps are located?

Look under the hood, drivers side, black box. "Battery control center".

Checked the fuse box under the hood. It does not contain any fuses that are labeled for the steps nor were any blown.

If your Serrano is 2009-2013, then you most likely have a BCC from "Custom RV Products" Model FW-2050.

This BCC was the subject of a recall in July 2013.

Check these step fuses F21 or F23 or F24 in your BCC. Mine is located under the hood drivers side, next to the workhorse fuse box.

You can find the BCC by tracing the red power battery cable from the chassis battery. There are 2 red power cables attached to the battery, one goes to the starter, and one goes to the BCC.

Check the fuse box on the front left outside compartment. Motor failure at the steps can be a problem. Mine was the motor .

Hi Mgscott4

This is a strange problem that I do not believe to be caused by fuses.

We decided to take a long weekend at HHI. So I started the Serrano and let it warm up - no step movement. Pulled the MH out of its storage location left it running and got out to hook up the toad. Opened the door steps worked.

They worked all weekend and when we returned yesterday. But I would bet that they stop if not used in a week.

So it sounds like an intermittant connection. I would separate and clean the connector under the steps. Clean the ground connection too. The ground connection is the most likely problem.

Caution--Position yourself away from the swing of the steps while you do this, in case the steps extend when not expected.

What about your BCC did you find it?

Is it FW-2050?

Has the recall been performed?

Hi Mscott4

I think you are correct. I will look at the connections over the weekend. In regards to the recall I did the latest recall when it was released.

Thanks

Cleaned all connections so I will wait and see if it solves the problem.

Well sorry to say that the steps still have the same problem. Non of the connections looked corroded when I cleaned them including the grounds.

Maybe a dead spot in the step motor. Next time it does not work tap on the motor with a hammer, if it works, you need to replace the motor.

Caution--Position yourself away from the swing of the steps while you do this, in case the steps extend.

Don,t spend more than around $50 on a new motor. It is most likely a window motor out of a 95 or 96 Ford Taurus available at any autoparts store. Any good autoparts guy can match it up for you.

I am going to take the MH to CW. I have their extended warranty so I will try to get them to cover something under the warranty.
