Thor 30.2 heater problem

So I went out to test my 2015 thor 30.2 heater this morning in preparation of our upcoming trip. This is the first time I've used the heater for extended periods of time and after Appx 10 min the fire alarm/co2 alarm went off. I thought maybe it was just a first time use deal so I waited and tried again 30 min later. Same result. Any of you gurus know if this is somewhat normal for first time use of the heater or is it indicative of a larger prob? I feel it's more of the larger problem and I'll have to take it in, but any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I would just run it for a few hrs and you should be fine. I remember this happening with another coach i had and after a bit it didnt set off the alarm anymore.

If it keeps setting off the alarm you have a carbon monoxide leak. If it only happens a couple of times in first use it sounds like you are cooking off lubricants left over from metal forming the heat exchanger parts. The point is that if it keeps happening get to the dealer with it because the CO can kill you. In the mean time vent to let any fumes out.

Ours also set the smoke alarm off the first few times it came on, leave it on for a day.

Yep. Happened to us the first time I turned it on...at 3A!
Opened the doors, fanned out the fumes and was good to go.

"Heater"? ...or "furnace"?
The "heater" only works when the engine is running and warmed up.

When the engine is running the CO, (carbon monoxide alarm) may "go off".....but I doubt that you have a CO2, (carbon dioxide alarm).

You all were spot on! After running the heat twice more, setting off the alarm and then airing out the RV, I haven't had any issues with the alarm going on off again. Thank you for your help!

No problem, this forum has helped me out many times!
Just ignore people like Mel, they're here just to point out we are all idiots and will never be as smart as them.

I never had a CO detector go off in my sticks and bricks but for other reasons I replaced the natural gas furnace.... Well they hauled the old one up the steps and dropped it in the driveway and I called a scrapper to come and take it away ha ha (Very bad song reference).

Well, the rough handling caused several rust flakes to .. well, flake, and the result is I could see daylight through the walls of the heat exchanger.

In short, had I not replaced it when I did, it would have been an emergency (More costly) job a few months later.

The moral of this post: Several things can trip a CO alarm

My generator is good at it (Of course a Gen-Turi fixed that).

The Breeze and I (A much better song reference) blowing the exhaust back into the RV (NOTE: Burner adjustment may fix).

Burner adjustment may affect.

And a hole, yes a hole, a hole in the bottom of the well,, (Yet another song) or to be more specific,,, the heat exchanger.. Have it checked,
