Thor, Forest River recall some motor homes - South Bend Tribune: Business
ELKHART — Two local RV manufacturers announced recalls in recent weeks because of safety concerns.
Thor Industries is recalling vehicles for two separate issues. There are 56 Hurricane and Windsport motor homes manufactured this year between March 10 and March 24 being recalled because of the way the co-pilot seats were installed in vehicles, according to the company.
The seats may be attached to the floor of the motor home in an area that is not properly reinforced, which could cause the seat base mounting to loosen over time and increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Thor will be notifying owners, and a reinforcement plate can be installed at dealerships free of charge. The recall number for this issue is RC000101.
Thor also recalled 168 Four Winds, Citation, Outlaw, Chateau, Siesta and Freedom Elite motor homes manufactured between Feb. 14 and April 6. Water weight carrying information on the Occupant and Cargo Carrying Capacity label may be missing from the vehicles.
If the motor homes are loaded to capacity without including the weight of the water carried onboard, the vehicles can be overloaded. This may cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash, according to Thor.
A new OCCC label with the correct information will be provided to affected customers free of charge. The recall number for this is RC000099. Owners may contact Thor customer service at 877-500-1020 about either recall.
