Update on this saga. We contacted a Thor customer service rep. we have a relationship with (number of problems on our current coach-which were dealt with appropriately) and he says the only thing showing on their end is electrical issues. The unit is at Camping World in Katy,Tx. No one at Thor or at the dealership can tell me definitively whether the buy back will show on the title. Salesman says people he has talked to are about 90% sure it will show on title. Dealership also says the unit will have a one year comprehensive warranty. At $68k this is a very tempting offer.

Well, that's almost half price. Get them to send you a picture of the exterior side wall of the slide, with it open of course. I'm curious to see. I didn't see it listed on CW's website.

Is it a 33 or a 35? The 33s are the ones with the full wall slide. The 35 is the one with two smaller slides, and just possibly might be more reliable.

Correction, I did find it. No pictures though.

It is the 33, which is most likely going to have slide problems unless they've done something remarkable to it.

I could see them labeling the slide issue as an electrical issue. Heck, the first time mine broke the slide wheels caught the wiring harness and cut it.

Yikes. Would never count on CW actually being of any help fulfilling a warranty. That leapord's spots will never change. Also, they only show a $10K discount?

Personally, I would not walk away. I would run, and I have bad knees. But I just got them shot full of cortisone yesterday, so yes, I would run.

Best of luck to you.

Get the VIN#. Run a CarFAX report on it. CarFAX will show if is a Lemon Law Buy Back.

If it shows it today, it will show it years from now, and that will effect resell.

They are showing a $10,000 discount from whatever the normal "used" or "lemon law" price would be. But, I figure they picked a number out of the air, then stuck a $10,000 discount on it so they can show it has a discount. MSRP on mine was $155,000 (mine has full paint) and the discounted price was $122,000 something.

If you are the kind of person who can accept something breaking, fix it, and keep using it then go for it. If you are the kind of person who decides that if something breaks it is junk and you won't use it again then go for something else as you will never be happy with it.

In my case, if it were something I could fix myself, I wouldn't have an issue with it. I build my own off road vehicles from scratch (not "kits"), I do all my own mechanic work on my vehicles, etc. But when that slide breaks, it isn't something I can do on my own. That's why my 33SW spent 172 days in the shop during the first 11 months of ownership - slide failure. And now it's sitting in my driveway, broken, for the 4th time. Shop says they can't get it in the shop for 45 days, and then it'll take them a month or longer to fix it. Last slide repair took over 90 days.

My point is this, it isn't "do you mind fixing it", it is "do you mind your rig being in the shop more than it is available for you to use".

RobbieH, I think I would be looking for a Lemon Law Buyback for your rig. That is totally absurd.

Update: Thor sent a technician to my home. They installed the upgraded slide system (3 rails instead of two, better shaft system, etc.) and did some other repairs while they were here. We have not had a chance to take it camping yet, as soon as they were done we took it to Ford for the emissions recall, a vibrating driveshaft, and a non-functional DEF sensor (turns out it was part of the recall). Still waiting to get it back.

Thor was very professional and they genuinely wanted to make the RV right. I just hope it is.

Good Luck RobbieH.
Ours has been "fixed" 4 times for us, once before we owned it. It really does take all the fun out of RVing when you can't trust your RV. And time spent running back and forth to repair facilities is IMO is NOT considered part of the RV fun!! And no it doesn't matter how nice the manufacturer is, they are still ruining your RV fun by putting out a faulty product!
Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 right? We will know better next time. Hopefully people read the horror stories that have been posted throughout the internet and heed the warning signs. The only way to get the message out to manufacturers that continue to pump out faulty RV's is to stop buying their product. I know we won't own another Thor product.
As far as buying a unit that is listed as a "Lemon Law Buy Back", would you really want that hanging over your head everytime you take it out? RVing is supposed to be fun, not stressful.

CONGRATS

A swap to a 3Trax was previously reported by owners as not possible...obviously erroneous info.

Thanks SO much for the specific results report and best luck.

Safe travels
