I have a 2016 Thor Tuscany 42' (newly bought) and have to travel to Corpus Christi next week. I am coming from New Orleans on I 10 and am looking at routes to avoid damaged and flooded roads. i am wondering if there is any one out there who can tell me yes or no to these travel plans...I am thinking of traveling on I 10 (everything on I can find on the road conditions says the main lanes are open) to Columbus, TX past Houston and then to take highway 71 South to Highway 35 East to Corpus. My RV GPS in the coach is so slow; not sure I trust it yet...but my clearance is 13 feet (to be safe). any low hanging underpasses or bridges this way? Appreciate any help! Thank-you!

I would check google maps with traffic turned ON. Once you start to zoom in on your route, it would indicate closed roads.

As to height, you should not encounter any issues almost anywhere in Texas.

We have a family cemetery in the Eagle Lake area of Texas and always travel from San Antonio on I-10 to Columbus and then South on 71. Three days ago I was listening to a reporter say she was on I-10 at Columbus and I-10 was impassable. Since then I believe the water has receded BUT the Colorado River runs through this area and it was then reported to flood at 26' but they were expecting it to crest at 56'. If any if that is close to being true then 71 MUST have been underwater for a period. A couple years ago there was minor flooding and parts of 71 were one lane each direction.

I'd sure want to get some good info from local authorities if possible before venturing out in that area. It is always flood prone and we fear for the people who live in this low land area.

I can't help much on the Texas part, but things seem to be mostly back to normal here in SW Louisiana until close to the Texas state line (the western most 10-20 miles of Louisiana). Though be warned even before the storm there were some significant construction zones along I-10 between Houston and the state line, combined with heavy traffic these would not be fun places to drive with an RV.

Highway 35 from 71 to Corpus is some of the heaviest damaged by Harvey. You might look at 71 to 59 at Victoria. Take the loop around Victoria to 77 then 77 to I-37 then 37 in to Corpus. or stay on I 10 until until it intersects 77. We go 77 from Waco to Corpus 5 times a year the lowest bridge on that stretch of 77 is 13.5 ft and the road for the most part is pretty good. Where in Corpus are you going?

We are headed to my son's home on Stampede Drive. It's close to NAS Corpus and off Yorktown Blvd. I have spent some time with them and was there May 2016 when Corpus flooded; not fun and just a fraction of what places have been dealing with now! Do you know whereabouts is the 13.5' bridge? Is it closer to Waco?
