OK, with our new-to-us 2006 Hurricane I am told I can walk on the roof in order to clean, etc. We came from owning an ultra lite travel trailer and there was no walking on that roof.

I am a pretty big guy so I am a bit hesitant about this. But the previous owner was a big guy too and he said he walked on it.

What do you say? Do you just get up there with sneakers on or what foot wear? I can imagine it is slippery for sure so any helpfult tips appreciated.

How big is pretty big? I'm 195 and walk around up there all of the time. I'm more concerned about the ladder breaking on the way up or down. Just don't step on the front or rear caps.

I'm around 280 and I have been up and down the motorhome ladder a few times to check things out. No problems there.

I know I need to be up there cleaning and checking seals, etc. but I'm just looking for some feedback from folks with the experience.

I have a Damon Intruder (Class A) and tip the scales at around 330 pounds.

I can (and have many times) walked on my roof.. Feels about the same as walking on the kitchen floor.

Clean it the same way too (Well 1 possibly 2 differences)

Mop (1), Pail, Spic & Span, Water.. Mop with cleaner, rinse (2)

The differences

1: I use a "Van Wash" Brush (Car wash brush with telescoping handle) instead of a mop, Softer bristles hold more water/soap solution and dig the dirt out better than a rag or sponge mop.

2: Instead of re-moping with a clean mop and clear water.. I use a garden hose and sprayer.

All Newmar RV's can be walked on tho know there is products out there that can not be. Just insure you have a good non slip sole on what ever you are wearing

Your roof will support you so don't be concerned about getting up there. As for what to wear on your feet, even tennis shoes can be slippery when you're washing the roof. Dave & I each have a pair of water shoes we keep exclusively for walking around while up
there.

Make sure if you wear tennis shoes to make sure no rocks are stuck to the soles before you get on the roof. Don.

What brand of shoe is this? Do you have the stock number? I would like to get us a pair. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sorry, I don't know the brand. We've had them since 2000 or 2001 & they're in the coach which is an hour away hybernating for the winter so I can't go check them. However, I think we got them at a sporting goods store in Florida (got 'em to walk the beach hunting shells). I'd think any sporting goods or similar place would have them.

I agree, the coach ladder dosn't look like it would hold some of the body weights posted here. I use a telescoping ladder I carry with me all the time.
