What would you do different??

We are anxiously awaiting the delivery of our challenger 37kt. I would like to put a loaded question out there. Is there any mods or accessories you wish you would have added when your coach was new??

I regret not adding rooftop satellite when purchased. Now I look at the $'s and think of all the ways I can better spend my money. Probably will never get it now. Enjoy your KT! We are still getting read for a ten month trip - can't wait to hit the road.

Roof top SAT is a Great MOD. I had it installed before I took delivery and also had HDMI and RG6 (sat wire ) run to all TV's . Blows my mind that THOR didn't do this for the 2014.

IMO- These should be standard equipment in all RV's. It is not if you are going to have an electrical issue, it is when. With these two meters one for AC and one for DC you know exactly what is going on at anytime.

I think these are the best ones on the market today. Progressive Industries has a lifetime warranty. Surge protector and meter.

EMS-HW50C

You can get this for around $300 here.
EMS-HW50C 50 Amp Hardwired EMS with Remote Display

TriMetric Battery System | Bogart Engineering

You can the 2030 here for $155 plus the shunt and wiring for around $200
Trimetric TM-2030-RV Battery Monitor System

There is something to be said about piece of mind.

No, I had to get this done at the dealer. I know the 2014's didn't have this, I'm not sure about the 2015"s.

Our 2015 has coax and HDMI to all RV's.

Thanks. I was sniffing around the Internet looking for this exact thing!!!
Think it's a good idea to see how much battery power the kids will be sucking up.

I believe mine only had HDMI to the outside tv.
I am unsure because I had them do a 3 receiver system install on mine prior to pick up.
Glad I did it from the start. As stated by others, I would be hard-pressed to go through all that now. Plus, I got free labor!

RV Redneck,
Congrats on the purchase of your Challenger. Check out our post about the Thor Motor Coach Owners Club rally coming up in May. Would love to meet you. Again Congrats. By the way when are you taking delivery?

I wonder if they will install some these things when they build it. Maybe if you supply them, and pay extra for installation. It would be a lot easier to install some of these items like HDMI cable to all TV's. Or the surge protector hard wired, or the battery monitor wired next to the RV command center. Or pre-wire for solar panels.

My personal list would go on, and on,

1. HDMI for an outside TV.
2. An outlet in the fresh water compartment for auxillary heat. (future Optional, heater, heat trace, light bulb.. etc. and add insulation to the water compartment.
3. Extra 12 volt power receptacle for dash camera near the windshield to keep the wire hidden.
4. Extra 12 volt receptacle for GPS. Again, to keep the wiring to a minimum.
5. LED Lighting.
6. Water pump on/off switch accessible while sitting on the toilet, and kitchen sink. You can leave the pump off except when you need it.
7. Insulation around the generator, after 24 hours of use, the floor of my RV heats up. I have used my Generator for 3 -4 days days straight on many occasions. (Yes, i shut it off daily to check the oil level.) IMO - The compartments next to the generator need to be insulated too.
8. Space for additional coach batteries. I have room for 4 (6 volt) but had to loose compartment space for the additional 2 batteries.
9. On board Air compressor, try to fill your tires to 90+ lbs at your local gas station, those $.75 machines only go to 80 lbs.
10. Whole house inverter.
11. Solar panels.

These are some of my upgrades that I did to my RV to make it more comfortable. Your needs may vary.

Ditto on the EMS-HW50C, a must have. But any new coach needs to be personalized to the individual. This takes a few trips to see what is wanted.

Our 2014 Thor Tuscany 40EX had the sat and HDMI system wired at the Factory. Thor is installing these things at the factory, It depends on how the dealer orders the unit I suppose.
