Wind Noise Fix

On my Palazzo I was getting quite a bit of wind noise (rumble, etc) coming from the front of the coach starting around 40 mph. As you sped up this would increase and turn into some really annoying and constant whistles above 60 mph.

From the inside it sounded like the noise was coming from either under the dash or above it, right where the windshield and dash meet right in the center. At first I thought something under the generator access panel was leaking air on the firewall, so I re-foamed everything I could see but it made no difference. I realized it was the air changing direction when it goes in the gap between the access cover and the front of the coach. So I went to Home Depot and got a roll of automotive grade weather seal. This is the sticky backed foam tape, I got the stuff that is 3/4" wide and 3/8" thick. I opened the access hatch, wiped the flat area clean where the access panel goes up flush against, and installed one strip all the way around. Now, when the access panel closes and locks in place, the edge of it is embedded in the foam tape. This has totally elimnated all wind whistles and has reduced a lot of my wind noise up front to almost nothing.

Thanks, I think I will try that to reduce the noise. I find mine depens a lot on the direction of the wind. Some days there is hardly any noise and others it can be very noticeable

Each coach is probably a little different because of the fit of the access cover and the size of the gap. The angle the wind is hitting the front could very well make a difference.

If you add the weather seal, post up and let us know if it made an improvement for you too.

I added the weather seal today. It will be about two weeks before I am on an interstate to see if it makes a difference. Will let you know after that.
