Mercedes Sprinter engine/ transmission/chassis reliability

I am looking to buy a used diesel MH either Ford V8 gas powered or 3.0 Mercedes Benz diesel power.
Obviously the Mercedes wins with using fewer gallons. Is it worth changing to a Mercedes combination with Itasca Navion and selling my 3/4 ton Dodge 5.9 Cummins with a 2009 Bigfoot 10 ft truck camper? and 4WD How does the fuel mileage compare from my 5'9 Cummins to a 3.0 Mercedes Benz? Or do I simply burn more fuel in a Ford V8 Winnebago MH combo.

What about the Dodge pickup being a 4wd vs rear wheel drive?

I tow a 12 foot cargo trailer with motorcycle and bicycles as grocery getters while camping

Our new to us Winnebago View with the 3.0 Mercedes Benz diesel power gets about 15 mpg. Maybe 13 when pulling a 4000# towed.

The OCCC is about 1000#'s.

What about all this online talk of the Mercedes engine/chassis being high maintenance and expensive to deal with?

We do all our own maintenance so labor costs are real cheap.

Besides the usual oil changes and occasional fuel filter changes we don't see it as high maintenance anymore than other diesel engines we've had.

P.S. If you haven't been you may want to also research your questions here;

Food for thought,

FedEx operates their Sprinters to 300,000 miles before replacing them. Their used ones are bought up by individual couriers that put another 2-300,000 miles on them.

And what does any of this have to do with the subject of this forum?

If you're referring to my post, the subject of this thread is:
Mercedes Sprinter Engine, Transmission, Chassis Reliability. Sounds like decent Reliability to me.

And there must be some kind of cost/benefit that caused Amazon to recently purchase 20,000 Sprinters.

Sorry I guess I should have been more specific...
This forum is the "Navistar MaxxForce Engine Forum" so basically all of the posts belong elsewhere...
