Navistar Delivers More Than 7,000 New 2010 Vehicles

WARRENVILLE, Ill. – (October 5, 2010) – Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) announced today that the launch of its 2010 EPA-compliant trucks and buses is on track and progressing well.

“Full production of our EPA2010 products has been underway since June and we’ve shipped more than 7,000 of these units in total, and more than 4,700 in the past month,” said Jack Allen, president of Navistar’s North American truck group. “We’re now well into delivery mode and as stated previously, we are on track to deliver more than 17,000 total vehicles to U.S. and Canadian customers by the end of the quarter.”

In addition, the company announced a significant number of customer orders, with more than 23,000 total 2010 vehicle orders (not including long-term, multi-year contracts). Across all of its engine platforms, the company is currently building more than 380 engines per day—85 of those are MaxxForce® 13 engines.

“Consistent with our ‘buy-early, buy-late’ strategy and confirmed by a number of pending deals in the works, we expect a significant increase in orders from October through December as fleets continue moving to 13-liter power and our MaxxForce Advanced EGR engine continues to resonate with customers,” Allen added.

What Motor Homes manufactors will be offering these engine's? Also, are these engine's the replacement for the CAT engine?

I believe the Maxx Force 10 would be the ideal engine for a MH. Up to 350 horse power and a light engine.

Navistar (IH) bought Monaco Coach from it's bankruptcy and has been reformed as Monaco RV, a Navistar divsion. Monaco Coach owned several other RV brands including Workhorse chassis. Here is a link to story of the relationships of Navistar and Monaco.
Monaco Coach Corporation Positive After Bankruptcy

As personal insight, I live close to Fort Wayne, IN, currently HQ for Navistar Technology Center and home of all R&D, which employs over 1100, mostly 4 yr degreed engineers. Navistar has announced the moving of it's R&D HQ from Ft. Wayne to Lisle, ILL, a Chicago suburb. Mr. Obama and Navistar have had many meetings and Navistar has received stimulus dollars. It is a mystery(?) why Navistar would want to move its facilities from Ft. Wayne...they are first rate and include a complete test facility with track and receive generous tax incentives from the city and state. Indiana's land grant colleges and universites graduate more engineering students for the such work than any other state in the union. Lisle, ILL city fathers do not want Navistar in their town, citing noise, pollution and a host of other issues. Lisle, Ill is an upscale, trendy burb.
Lisle, ILL held a referendum and Navistar was rejected by the folks..but Navistar has reached an agreement lately ($)and the move is on. Navistar has R&D projects underway for elecric and hybrid busses and hybrid heavy duty truck platforms and with some fanfare here locally, hybrid RV chassis; all are funded by the US taxpayer via stimulus funds.
Fort Wayne and Elkhart are 90 miles apart. Elkhart is home to Monaco and it's other brands manufacturing.
The 1,100 jobs are moving to Lisle, Ill.
