Seeking advice.
I am considering the purchase of a 2011 Monaco Knight. Another coach I am considering is a 2012 fleetwood Expedition 38s. Both are priced around the same level. I am concerned about the Maxxforce engine reliability and Monaco value as a result. Please help if anyone has any thoughts.

I have a 2012 with the MaxxForce 10. 17,000 miles so far and no issues with the Engine. Runs great!

There are a lot of folks on here who have the MF!0 engine and are really happy with it. There are also a lot who wouldn't touch it cause of internet rumours. As to future value only time will really tell.
But if I was buying with a concern for future resale, I would have to lean towards the Fleetwood.
That said as you can see by my signature which way we went. Do a lot of reading in here on the MF !0 engine and you will get a pretty good idea.

Thanks Trap, I believe we will be going with the 2011 Monaco Knight. Thanks for your feedback and link to the engine forum.

We have thee Maxforce 10 and at 19000 no problems. One thing to remember, only people with problems post things on forums. If you go the forums you can forget about buying anything. Head over to the Cummings forum and you will see the same thing.

Rocny,
My experience with this engine is having to service and repair it in a combat environment. This is the same engine variant used in our MaxPro and other Navistar based MRAP vehicles.
I've found it to be as reliable as anything on the market, and it's power range in some case above average. I would not hesitate buying a motor coach with this engine. Any and all maintenance issues I've dealt with concerning this engine has been no different than that of any of the other manufactures.
My 2 cents,
DTW

Nearly 29000 on our 012 Knight with the MF10 and leaving shortly for another 7000 mile trip. Runs great and plenty of power and performance! Am a retired farmer, and JD Dealer so lots of exposure to the diesel world. VERY SATISFIED!!!!!

I have a 2011 Knight and it now has 30,000 miles on it. Absolutely no problems, not even a single burp. I have had all my oil changes done at Speedco except they won't change the top engine fuel filters. So, I did it myself. Bought the filters on Amazon and it took 30 minutes to change out. No big deal. My Knight get's about 9mpg pulling a Jeep Wrangler. I think the Fleetwood is a lesser of the two in value.

Not trying to change the subject of this thread, but would be interested in more details of how to change the filter?? Or possibly add to the Maxxforce engine forum...

There are two fuel filters on top of the engine. One is a screen, the other a fuel filter. Open the cover in the bedroom and you will see both filters. I found the easy way to remove the filter tops was to get a socket to fit the filter and it comes off easy. Take out the old and put in the new with the supplied "O" ring.
