If you are changing oil at 15,000 per maintenance manual, you fuel mileage must be below 5.5 MPG. That classifies you as Severe Duty. How is that with a motor home? You pull a big trailer? Drive fast? Like charging up mountain passes at 75 MPH+? The ISX 600 can certainly do those things and more. Per Cummins Quick Serve On Line, an ISX oil change is based on fuel mileage. Most on-highway trucks weighing 80,000 pounds are able to safely achieve 25,000 miles sevice interval when fuel mileage is in the 6 - 7 MPG range. Above 7 is the LD range of 35,000 miles. The 2006 is an EGR engine but no catalyst muffler. The ISX currently is the most predominant HD engine in use. In HD applications, ISX engines commonly achieve operating life of 800K + miles. If you get one, use CI-4+ engine oil. The current spec CJ-4 oil is not as robust in formulation as it is meant to be used with engines using diesel oxidation catalyst muffler. Starting in 2007 DOC was introduced. If you elect to use CI-4 oil, Chevron Delo 400 is an excellent choice. I believe that ExxonMobil still produces Delvac 1300 Super in CI-4. Shell does not offer CI-4 any longer.
For service there are many Cummins distributors plus many OEM dealers like Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, International who also can do Cummins authorized repair and warranty.
