Interesting comments about the abilities of the little ISC. Firstly, let me say that my 380 ISC has a two stage Jacob's engine brake. It works quite well with right around 300 HP of braking in high.

I know my coach is only 42' in length, and loaded for the road is right at 35,000 #'s, this weight is right in line for the old saying that you need 1 HP for every 100#'s of coach weight. Which leaves me with spare power.

Would I rather have an ISL 400, or an ISX? Yes, but not necessary. Remember when the biggest most expensive coaches were sold with 370 HP ISL's and that it wasn't that long ago.

We are actually pretty much in agreement. If the weight of this 43' Ventana "fully loaded" is no more than 35k, then a 380hp ISC (particularly if you have one of the rare" ones equipped with a 2stage engine brake) then your HP/ weight ratio is on the money.

However, what happens....

1) When you hook-up +5K of toad?
2) If the fully loaded weight( before toad) is +40k?
3) If you don't have the 2stage brake?

Don't get me wrong...I love my ISC...just wouldn't want this engine in a +40k rig with a single stage compression brake. Regardless, my bad for assuming loaded weight & exhaust brake....really need more info from the OP.

So easy to figure, with a35,000 lb + a 5000 toad using the 380 hp, gives you 105 lb per 1 hp, I would not enjoy that. For example my numbers are 60 lb / hp single or 70 lb / hp with toad .
I lie my hair ob fire once in awhile.
