400 ISL vs 450 ISL

Our new Phaeton 42 LH has the Cummins 450 HP ISL engine. The the 2013 version has the 400 HP ISL, both with the Allison 3000 trany. From what I have been reading it appears that the Allison trany torque limits the 450 to the same 1250 ft/lbs as put out by the 400. So what is the advantage of the extra 50 horses?
Just curious, the HP rating had nothing to do with our choice to go with the 2104 over the 2013.

Max torque is extended upward a hundred or so rpm. That of course will yield the increase in horsepower yet retain the torque limitations. They can do this with the DEF engines and still meet EPA standards.
