Very old news in the Dodge/Ram community. Most of those problems have occurred on the older models of the 5.9L engine. Such as the killer dowel pin, the 53 Block and the VP 44 fuel pump. The common rail injector issue is common to all newer diesel engines in the market place today. That is why filtration is so important on todays diesel engine. To me that is not an issue with just Cummins but all diesel engine manufactures. The only potential issue with the 6.7L engine is a blown head gasket. But if you stay within the power/torque levels for that given year of engine design than you should have no issues with the head gasket.

The VP 44 Pump is really not all that bad to change out......Just returning from a cross country trip, 35 miles from home, I decided to stop at a weight scale, and while unhitching, the truck started running really bad then died.....called a hook, and was towed to the tow companys yard.....this was on a Saturday.....called friends who came and picked up wife to take her home.....got on the web, found me a pump....ordered it overnight, and while waiting, pulled the old pump off...I had all tools, except the puller for the drive gear.....pump company supplied that puller, so when I sent my core in also sent the puller.....was home Sunday evening.....$2000 later!.....And that pump works as advertised for better mileage and power...

The "bombers" are the ones having the vast majority of these problems.
