I'm seriously thinking about buying a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie Mega Cab 4x4 w/ a 6.7L I6 Cummins. I'm going from a Toyota Tacoma DBL cab Prerunner '05 2x4 (w/ tow package) to this monster. More than I'll ever need (so I say now, but you never know) in a rig. Can any of you tell me anything about this size engine and what is the recommended oil changing schedule should be. I test drove one just this evening and the wife and I were very impressed with this truck! Little stiffer than my truck but what do you expect w/ a 4x4. How is it while pulling a 25'-0" 4,950lbs. T.T.? I know these are noob questions, but we all got to start somewhere.

IIRC, the 2008 is like my 2011 in that it has the oil change monitor function in the ECM that will display a message when an oil change is required (it calculates this based on how much EGR is used and how many regeneration cycles the DPF goes through), but the manual says not to exceed 7,500 miles on my 2011.

My truck is rated for 26,000 lbs GCWR - the 2500 will be rated less (Dodge really restricted the GVWR and other ratings on the MegaCab), but even with the 3.73 gears, it would never know a 4,950 lb trailer was hitched up to it.

You can drill down to a 2008 Ram HERE and get all the specifications and ratings for your truck's specific configuration.
