Add Oil to 600 ISX

I have a 2017 Newmar LADP 600 ISX. When the oil level on the "dip stick" gets down to "add", how much oil should be added to restore the level back to full? thanks

Resullivan, I don't claim to know the answer and the answer you receive here may not be the right answer for your coach. I've heard that oil dip sticks (from the guys on the Prevost site) can be marked wrong.

They say the best way to find the correct amount of oil that is in your engine is just after an oil and filter change. Once you are sure that the correct amount of oil has been added, you then can check your dip stick to see if it correct.

Is there a reason why you want to know the amount vs. putting oil in to get it within 'range' on the dip stick?

Safe travels,
Mark

I’ve never had to add oil to my ISX between changes, but I thought I read somewhere that it is two gallons when it is at the add line. Yes, two gallons not quarts as these behemoths hold approximately 14 gallons of oil.

Hi Resullivan; A question, is the dip stick not marked with the amount to add when it reaches the low or add oil marked. Many discussions here over the years that the dip sticks are not accurate, but the dip stick on my 01 Windsor with the 8.3 ISC engine has the low mark is 4 quarts or 1 gallon. My engine holds just under 6 gallons with filter so as Randyman1 mentioned, it could be 2 gallons at the low or add oil mark. You can call Cummins Tech. line and give them your engine serial number and they will able to give you an answer. Cummins Tech. was very helpful to me last month and saved me over $500 in diagnostic repairs. Would not hurt to give them a call. Hope this info helps.

No idea how much it takes. I push the transfer pump button and it pumps fresh oil in from the reservoir in the side compartment.

I've measured the oil it takes to go from add to full on our 525 ISX. It takes 2 gallons or 8 quarts. Like the other guys said, the best time to check this is when changing oil also check the dipstick calibration as you refill it.
