The scan tool I linked to supports J1939, which is not OBDII.
That scan tool does both...so might yours.
If you paid under $20 then it is very likely using a "clone chip" and not an authentic ELM processor. And likely won't work J1939.

After the help from my PDI guy and Spartan customer service I located the fuel filter as well as the engine coolant filter and the air dryer filter. Ordered 2 fuel filters and a coolant filter. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

Service engine light still coming on.

This is a continuation from a post earlier this month I made. Engine light is coming on when I'm going up a slight incline. Not every time. It's not holding any codes when this happens. In my previous post it was the general consensus that the fuel filter needed changing. I chanded the filter and this was the first trip out since the replacement. The warning light always goes off as soon as I let up on the gas pedal. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The air filter is all but new and the gauge for it says all good.

Have no idea. I know nothing about a diesel. If it was the turbo wouldn't it show a code?

Check your fuel filter(s).
possibly restricting fuel flow.

Freightliner told me a month ago to NOT trust the stupid little air filter restriction guage! My air filter was very dirty just driving across west Texas with some high winds.

Not saying that is what is causing your light, though...

I'll inspect it tomorrow.

Amber Check Engine Light

This weekend was on a short trip. The light came on twice, once while coming off a stop light, had my foot down needed to change lanes quickly and the going up a very slight incline on the highway. Air filter is good according to the gauge. Any suggestions? I know it just some thing minor. It runs good other than that.
Check the coolant level in your surge tank or sometimes called coolant overflow. There is a sensor there, make sure the coolant is over the sensor.

^^^ I think what Car1 said ^^^

That happened to me, and that was the reason. There is a line on the reservoir that indicates minimum coolant level. Mine was just below that. Filled to proper level and problem solved.

That does make sense. It's so intermittent and not storing a code. So as I get my coffee down and shower I'll go out and check the level. I'll let you know.
