Banks Powerpack

Has anyone installed a Banks Powerpack on a Cummins 300isl and if so what were the results--We are thinking of taking our 3333 2006 Newmar Ventatna to Banks in Ca for an install but would like some input first.

It does very good on the flats but needs help on the hills and passing.

Thanks\\Brian

Brian,

If your coach info is correct, ie a 2006 ISL then you might want to check Banks again as I'm certain they don't have a kit for your application.

Our customers with your engine are having excellent results with our performance kit which consists of a Lifetime performance Air Filter, Aeroturbine Muffler and a Performance Module.

If you have any questions give us a call,

Most 2006 Ventana came with a Cat C7 engine rated at 330 HP. And there is no Cummins ISL 300 - it would have to be either an ISL 370 or ISL 400 in 2006. However, an ISC 330 would be more likely than the ISL.

Doesn't make any difference, tho. There is no Banks Power Pack for either engine.

Didn't know the ISB was used in the Ventana (I learn something new every day!). Yes, the Banks makes a noticeable difference in an ISB 300. Enjoy!!!

Redlands Truck and RV (Keith Shomaker),

I have a 2006 Kountry Star with a 350 ISL, yes they did make a 350 ISL with 1050 lbs torque, and I am interested in your performance kit for the ISL. Will it help with fuel economy?

Cummins can reprogram my computer and make it a 400 with 1200 lbs torque, but it will cost me $3500 unless I void the warranty. When it is out of warranty in 2 more years, they will make it a 400 for $350.

I have no problem with power, but I would like to increase the hp to 400 for fuel mileage. I talked to others who had Cummins to increase their 350 hp ISLs to 400 and it increased mileage about 1/2 mpg.

ISL with only 1050 ft-lbs?

Wow, that's weird. I thought all ISC's had 1050 and all ISL's had 1200. The horsepower varies with the maximum allowed rev's, but torque depends upon displacement plus boost pressure (i.e. the mass of the fuel/air charge).

I hadn't ever heard of that either, but here is an article describing a 350 hp, 1050 ft lb ISL. Not sure why they would do that, since the ISC can produce the same torque & HP.

Cummins has new ISL rating

350 ISLs have been around since about 2002 or earlier in Newmars. I think they started with Mountain Airs around 2001 or 2002. Then later, they went to 370, 400, and now 425 hp in the Dutch Airs and 2008 Kountry Stars.

In 2005 the larger Kountry Stars had ISC engines with 330 hp and around 900 lbs torque.

In 2006, if you purchased a 34 ft Kountry Star, you got a ISC engine with 330 hp and around 900 lbs torque. If you purchased a 39 ft Kountry Star, you got a ISL engine with 1050 lbs torque.

I'm not sure, but I think 2006 was the only year this happened, because I think in 2007 the 39 ft Kountry Stars had 400 hp ISL engines and the shorter ones had 360 hp ISC engines. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

In 2008, the last year for the Kountry Star, I believe all 39 ft versions had 425 hp ISL engines, and the shorter ones had 360 hp ISC engines.

Now, I believe the Vantanas have ISB engines and the Dutch Stars have ISC engines, and you don't get an ISL until you get into a Dutch Aire. Seems now the engines are smaller with more hp.

ricre,

Our customers that have your coach have had great success with the AFE Performance Air filter and the Aeroturbine Performance Muffler. When used together our customers tell us they pick up 5 to 10MPH when pulling a hill and anywhere from .5 to 1 additional MPG.

Thanks,
