Bully Dog

I have a 2011 dodge cummins. 22000 miles on the truck. Would like your thoughts on a bullydog gt model 40420. Not that pleased with the mileage, 8.5 to 9.5 pulling a 36 ft weighing 14600. Around town mileage is 12 not pulling and out on the road also not pulling around 16. Should I live with that or consider a preformance unit. Thanks

What rear end is in the truck? The higher the number the worse the mileage.

I'm surprised. I have a 2006 Dodge 5.9 and it averages 18-21 on the road and 14-16 towing.
You realize the Bully Dog will void your warranty?
Have you had the engine checked out?

How fast are you trying to pull that 5th wheel? We consistently get 9.5 to 10.5 MPG (depending on headwind versus tailwind) towing the 16,000 lb GVWR 5th wheel in our signature on the Interstate with the cruise set at 65 MPH.

To comment on a previous statement, the 68RFE is a double overdrive transmission (i.e., both 5th and 6th gear are overdriven); therefore, the 4.10 rear axle is preferred for towing heavier 5th wheels and doesn't exact a real mileage penalty since the engine is only turning 1612 RPM @ 60 MPH in 6th gear. The 4.10s make all six (6) gears usable for towing and carry a significantly higher GCWR than the 3.73s or the mall-cruiser 3.42s.

And to answer your question, no, there's no way I'd give up the warranty on my Cummins by using a programmer. The risks are too great.

Thanks guys for your input. I do have 3:73s. I run 65 on interstate.
