After an hour research, I am convinced that "LAUNCH CReader HD Plus Heavy Duty Truck Scanner", I would purchase. Even that model was listed on ODB advisor. https://www.obdadvisor.com/heavy-duty-truck-scan-tool/

One Scan, will pay off the price of this hardware. I Hope, we do not need them, but great to have in the bus, as an insurance.

Do you have the LBCU ? I think you may have one. It already has a build it code reader.
Even with units with a MMDC, have a build in code reader.
A Scan Gauge D, would be easier

Yes, Scangauge D is a consideration. Allows for monitoring a few additional items while driving. Had one in a gasser coach. Just wish the display was better - its difficult to read.

Scangauge D and Silverleaf are popular among members.

I'm not sure about the ScanGauge to be very trustworthy. I have one on my 2019 M2 106 Renegade and it throws codes that do not appear on the DIC (Dash Information Center). Also, on my 2019, Freightliner changed the under dash plug to a twist-on round "green" style (had to call ScanGuage to get an adapter for free).

Wink Cummins Code Scanner

After using a ScanGauge D in the past and knowing it won't read all the codes available, I finally had a need a few weeks back on a Stop Engine fault.

After visiting the local Cummins shop and seeing them use this Inline mini to read the codes, I asked if it was available for purchase. It is, although it's pricey at about $300 (if you use your PowerClub discount).

It works well and since its proprietary to Cummins it will give the info a need to determine whats up on my 6.7 ISB.

That's what I use on the job. Load the free Cummins fault code reader on your smart phone and your off to the races....

I purchased a New OTC Genisys EVO scanner with Heavy Duty software on eBay for 500 bucks. I came with the Smart cable for All my auto diagnostics and for the coach I can do Class 4 – Class 8 truck coverage, which covers my coach and came with the 6 and 9 pin connectors HD J1587 / J1708 and J1939 Heavy Duty CAN, Engine, Transmission/ABS coverage and more. I have covered my Autos and Coach with this One Tool

If all you need is code reader, I bought this one to keep on my coach, also will provide sensor info and read sensor live data. Good value for a little more than a hundred bucks...

Only if the ECM was calling for Regen, your 2008 engine have a "parked Regen" switch on dash?

To do a parked Regen, parking brakes must be applied, engine at operating temperature, trans in neutral.

Flip the switch, if it needs Regen, it should go into that mode. It might take 10 minutes or an hour to complete it...IF it was required.

Anything you do will cancel it, touch foot brake pedal, release parking brake...etc, it'll stop.

But to answer your main question, no the scan/code reader I posted link to will only provide data.

Unfortunately Tiffin has not chosen to install such a switch. I have gotten information from other threads and a bunch of additional research for me to add such a switch. It will be located in the engine bay not the dash board.

There is even a Cummins part number to track down for the connection to the OEM port on the ECU a couiple of pieces of wire and a momentary contact switch.

I recently bought the INNOVA 3160 Diagnostic Scan Tool never used an OBD 1 scanner but heard there are some really good ones in the market. I would suggest why it’s better to prefer OBD 2 scanner tools. To make sure it’s Compatible for your specific car.
