What Evans does not tell you is that an engine must be designed to use a high viscosity coolant like non-aqueous propylene glycol. PG concentrate is much higher in viscosity that a aqueous (water mixed) coolant. As such the water pump, coolant passages and heat exchangers would have to have been designed from the ground up to work. There is just one other little detail, Evans neglects to tell you. While the freeze point of PG is shown to continue dropping as % concentrate increases, the viscosity drops exponentially. It is essentially a solid -34F and much too viscous to be pumped even at -10F.

Good thing I asked. Have been thinking about putting it in my generator for years.

Longhair,

Do a search on this site for all my posts by Spike45. You will find that I try not to specifically endorse any coolant brand. I do recommend against some coolants because of chemistry issues that may cause problems to hoses and gaskets. I also try to debunk some of the marketing baloney put out by some antifreeze suppliers. One of my favorite to take potshots at is the Amsoil people......all marketing and no technology. Same for K&N and ARE air filters that are said to provide more air and never have to replace them.

Tell us more about your MH engine and what you are doing now. I see you have posted few times. I can make more specific recommendations after that.

As to the hard water business, if you continually use your tap water to make premixed coolant, it could become an issue.
Given the variability of tap water quality, and the inability of most to carry out checks on the tap water, I would have thought it better to not even suggest using tap water to make up the final coolant mixture.

Distilled water is available in gallon jugs at most supermarkets for under $1 per gallon.
