Hope it is not a head gasket. Check for any coolant hoses routed in that area. Could be a hose has a small hole rubbed in it. Does it only leak with the engine is running? If you refill the coolant tank, does it leak out without the engine running?

The ISB had a core plug (also known as a freeze plug) on the rear (flywheel end) of the cylinder head that had a habit of either corroding through or creeping out, resulting in a coolant leak. Since you said yours was a 300 BHP Cummins, it's likely an ISC, but still worth a look.

It's an easy replacement - if you can get to it!!

If your engine is an ISB crawl under it and look for a "53" in raised numbers on the block. If you have it then cracking of the block is possible due to the walls being a little too thin. This is something that happens in a few percent of the cases and Cummins has assisted owners in replacing the block. I have a 53 block and have had no problems so far which is 11 years. Let us know what you find.

Having an ISB Cummings it might be a good idea to install a fuel pressure light or gauge to monitor the pressure. Bosh Injector pumps go South when the input fuel pressure drops below 5psi. Its handy, as it helps to know when the filters need replacing or if the lift pump is on its last legs.
BD Diesel supplies a kit for one source.
