TOTAL NEWBIE HERE. First post. Any one have a suggestion as to trouble shooting the Cruise Control on these coaches. I have not been able to locate any technical manuals on the unit. All suggestions have automatically defaulted to the "after market replacement" option. This is an option, but I would prefer to stay OEM if possible.

As newer "Ivorys" are class C's it would help to list Mfg. date of MH. Also might think of listing the question under Monaco rather than Cummins.
Is the cruise control on the steering wheel or side panel? etc.

Monaco bought Safari; but they are no help when it comes to information on coaches made prior to 2K. The CC is mounted on the steering column.

Cruise control is part of the engine ECM, Electronic Control Module. It is not like the LD auto types that hold the throttle plate open. Since diesel engines have no throttle plate in the intake, engine speed is controlled by the electronic governor and fuel delivery, functions of the ECM. Often times these issues are caused by a sensor that is out of range. Check with Cummins or an autorized Cummins OEM dealer like Kenworth and other heavy trucks.

I doubt if the 1995 engine has any electronics on it and the cruise control would be a mechanical unit. My 95 B5.9 uses an Econocruise brand and they are out of business. If you have one of these you will have trouble finding any information on it, at least I have not found anything. Good Luck, Ed

I certainly agree that a 1995 is the mechanical engine still. Must have missed that point!

My cruise control of the same vintage coach and engine is a King Controls device and is mounted on my SOB near the battery box on the passenger side of the engine. The label is still readable.

That is all I know about it since it continues to work fine.

deandec, What is your "SOB"?

King Controls is still in business and I have heard the recommended manufacturer to replace my Econo-Cruise if it fails.

Country Coach=CC? not SOB. Am I missing something? Last time I heard SOB was Sweet old Bob

SOB = Some Other Brand (in this case Country Coach).

They may not have used the same system as Safari did although both built in 1995.

You guys seem to know what your talking about. I have mysteriously lost my cruise control as well last time out. Does anyone have any recommendations where to start or is this best left to a big truck shop with diagnostic abilities?

Unfortunately I left my coach at one of these places for same day service and on day 3 went and picked up (today) thanking them for wasting time i really dont have. Thanks in advance.

Gene43, unfortunately truck shops depend on their regular fleet customers for steady revenue.

You and I are typically one shot opportunities that do not have a revenue to earn tomorrow with our rigs.

So, the truck shops work in our diagnosis and repairs after they do their bread and butter work. That can take weeks depending on the complexity and parts needed for the repairs. Service work is a bit different.

If you have a manual for your rig it may have a diagram of the cruise control wiring. Mine does. So, at least you have a map of the system. Then it is you and your voltmeter tracking down the cause of your problem. If you have the king controls cruise control, I can post a schematic of my system.

Otherwise, I cannot help with your system.
