I will do that. Thanks for the help. Does your gauge stay in the center, or does it move up and down from 1/2 to 3/4?

I Fought that problem;; I'll pass on my experiances;; Number 1 . Make sure the oil/crankcase vent extends Beyond The rad. So there is no chance of pulling the oil mist into the rad;; Second When I hear some one saying spray something in the rad. I get Goosebumps. Lets Explain that You basicly have two cores Back there about 2" apart The rad. And the Inter cooler; Some one told me OH just spray it with ____ _ _ And then wash it out with HIGH PRESSURE Water; First The fins bend easly. Second this happened to mine, The Sludge From washing the rad. form the rear and the sludge from washing The rad/intercooler from under the bed Got trapped between the two. $3600.00 dollers later man it works good; If you are overheating Take it to a shop and have it checked for air flow through the cores;; You allways hear tell of someone who used it with good results; Well I have had good results also; But when I didn't it cost me; Life is good.

Get a small garden sprayer with a metal wand. Fill the sprayer with Awsome cleaner from the dollar store. Bend the metal wand to allow you to insert it behind the fan blades and spray the radiator/cac. Start the engine for just a second to use the fan to blow the cleaner through the radiator/cac. Repeat again then let set for about 30 minutes. Spray from the fan side with a garden hose until water runs clear. Do this as many times as it takes to get no more residue from the radiator/cac.

Do this at least once a year. As bachler said if it is plugged too badly you will have to have the radiator/cac removed and cleaned. An expensive solution.

Make sure your slobber tube (crankcase Vent) is routed behind the radiator/cac.

I have not got my problem resolved yet. I have a appointment with Cummins in April. They will put it on a dino. What are they telling you to do to fix your problem? They did change my thermostat and it helped some.

A good way to check if your cooling is dirty/plugged is to wait until after dark then have someone inside move a light around from the fan side while you look in from the back. You will be able to see areas that the light does not shine through and are plugged.

Not on this coach yet as we just purchased in June 2010. Last coach was a National Tropi Cal with a Cat 350 rear radiator. After about 18 months it started overheating. Once I cleaned everything re routed the slobber tube and started the one year cleaning routine I had no more problems.

I will be doing the cleaning maintenance once a year on the new coach also.

As I stated in a prior post.. You have the Intercooler Then a 2" space then the rad; I used a lot of that crap that was supposed to clean it out. Well what was happening it wasBuilding up between the inter.cooler and the Rad; after taking everyones advice about how to solve the problem . I had to take it to The NWMC. Shop and $3600.00 later it works just fine. Any of you that heep putting that Degreeser In there you will also be hedding for a large repair bill..; I do not mean to scare anyone Just make you aware of what can and will happen. The cause of the problem is the Crankcase vent. Get down and look under The Coach to make sure it extened beyound the rad, Even out past the rear of the bumper. That way the rear of the coach will not get covered with all the oil mist;; Life is good ; With a clean rad;

this is our update
1- we went to a diesel specialist - he said that the "head gasket" was damaged - thus why we were loosing some prestone
2- we then returned the rv to our dealer (we purchased it last fall) and he sent it to a cummins specialist in Quebec city. This dealer ordrered special instrument from Cummins Indianapolis to help verify the pressures in different components of the motor and also liquid. - all was ok - therefore according to himit is not the "head of the Gasket" that is damaged.
3- this cumminds dealer after more verifications noticed that our motor was MISSING a "bol" of the radiator - this collects the overflow of the prestone and when it is missing some goes back into this bol to use it. it had never been installed by Cummins !!!!!!
4- this dealer also said that he had worked on our rv a lot last year to find the solution to the heating issue (changed all sensors and all).
5-so according to him - we should just use it this way and it will be ok ???????
6- i will discuss the issue you mentioned above on Monday.
7- great to have both of you to discuss this issue as perhaps together we will find a long term solution.
perhaps some terms are not correct english - but our first language is French and when it comes to motors i have a few issues. look forward to your comments
pat and claude

I have a new 2011 Winnabago Journey 40U, and I have had 3 incidents with overheating while driving. Each time the temp sudenly leaps to red, the coolent Temp over heat indicator comes on, the a check engine light and finally a red light which says stop. I pulled off the road shut down the engine a few minutes and then when I restarted and pushed the idle up the temp immediatly drops down to normal again. The Tech at Lazy Days have looked at it but found no issue. One my way home from lazy days the same thing happened again. Mind you this is brand new and I have only driven the unit maybe 150 miles. Any thoughts? this is a cummings 360 without the new uric acid system.
