Cummins ISB 275 Heating Up

Just returned from a short trip in our '99 Monaco Diplomat powered by a Cummins ISB 275. Nearing home at 7,000' elevation, with ambient air temp of 80 - 85 engine temp rose to 210 - 215 on the instrument panel temp gage. While this was the first time we've had the coach out with temps in the 80s, having driven it some 9,000 miles since last October I have not seen the engine temp go past 180 - 185 before. Our tow is a Jeep Wrangler of approx. 3,000#. Radiator fins look clean with no obstructions. I have the RR8S chassis with a rear mounted radiator. Has anyone seen this engine temp issue with a similar rig and power?

A common problem is the "slobber tube" (engine breather) fouling the Charge Air Cooler which is located in front of the radiator close to the engine fan. The solution is to extend the "slobber tube" so it can not discharge on the CAC. Then thoroughly clean the CAC with someting like Simple Green and water. Do not use a pressure sprayer because it can damage the CAC.

I have had temps of 210 but the outside temps down here in Florida are hotter. Normally 180-190.

Good tip about the CAC. I'll try some simple green but it does not look dirty.

Get the Simple Green that is made for aluminum not the regular stuff. Regular Simple Green is corrosive to aluminum.
