Cummins ISL 425 Fault Code "ECM power failure"

I have been struggling with an ongoing intermttant engine brake fault. I decided
to look at Silverleaf for any codes and have only this:-
251 2 1 ECM POWER FAILURE
8/10/12 OMI 177F 9PL 1537 RPM

It has been suggested that this may be a fuse failure. Can anyone throw any
light on this code and also where are the engine fuses, so I can check them all.

Thanks.

Do you have this list of codes? might help you out: http://www.diesel-service-parts.com/isc-codes.html

What kind of problem are you having with your engine brake?
Mike , you might have to take to a shop and have the ECM read with the insite program to see just what is going on. Just a thought....

Thanks I have those codes but it does not show 251.

The engine brake problem is that the engine brake intermtantly does not work, an engine stop and restart clears it. Howvere it is becoming more frequent.

I have now got an answer on this code business, from Silverleaf:-
Cummins Technicians are notorious for only being able to locate the Cummins Engine Codes, not the SAE Engine Codes. SAE Codes are the Codes that the SilverLeaf Products read...

Conferring with Cummins "Experts", the SAE Code "251-2-1" is Cummins Code:

319 - Maintenance : Real Time Clock Power Interrupt - Data Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect.
The problem is that there does not seem to be publically available a lookup table for conversion. Butfor those with similar problems go to Silverleaf.

Exhaust brake Problems On ISB

I am having the same problem with my exhaust brake. I works until I turn it off then it hangs up. Same deal, I turn engine off and it clears the system and everthing runs fine.... I don't believe it is in the exhaust brake it'self. Either in a solenoid, switch or wiring. I'm curious if you found out what the problem was. Thanks

I have changed several things, the Hi off Lo switch, a relay and have had the internal harness in the rocker box changed which Cummins have as a service bulletin. None of which fixed it. I have now changed the throttle position sensor, which so far seems to have done it. However I will not know for sure until Sunday when I start a long trip. Hope that helps.
