Well, I'm ready to tell my Cummins ISL 400 HP story.
In April, my engine blew up. It had a hole roughly 12"x16" in the right side of the block and about a 3"x2" in the other side. Yes it was part of the CM 850 recall.
I took it to Cummins West in San Leandro, Ca. They took their computer and whatever else they use to determine that I had done nothing to cause the failure, stated it was Cummins problem and under warranty and they would repair it at their cost.
True to their word, they did the replacement, checked many items out to see if they had any damage and replaced those that did have damage.
At no time did Cummins even suggest that I had done something to cause the damage.
The replacement took about 3 months.
They did not torque down some bolts and about a month after I got the rig back it stopped running. They sent, at no cost to me, a mechanic and a tow truck and fixed that damage at no cost to me. This included removing the Allison tranny, sending it to Sacramento, having it repaired, as necessary, and reinstalled in my rig.
I wish that the entire incident had never happened, but Cummins West and Cummins Inc. took care of the problems in a very professional manner.
My County Coach is now running very well, still has a overheating problem, but that is being taken care of as I type this.
