I found out about the recall about a month ago on this site. It takes about 2 hours to accomplish, they check exhaust valve blow by and re-program the ECM. FWIW the mechanic didn't seem to think it was a big deal, I wanted to get it done before our trip to FL.

I had mine done last month. For the ISL CM2150 (425hp USLD-only) the most recent ECM flash update is 11/5/09. One of those updates in the not too distant past corrects falsely high reported fuel mileage. There have been various complaints wanting to go back to the earlier, but wrong, mileage reporting by some until they figure out they never got 12mpg. Other than that you won't notice any difference in performance or mileage from the ECM update.

For those who haven't had the C0737 EGR Cooler and Air Compressor Inlet Hose Campaign performed, I recommend getting it done asap. The hose is between the engine air intake (after turbo) and is the feed to the engine's air compressor. When this hose bursts (mine did) you have a large and growing boost leak, will have performance problems and excess fuel usage. You'll hear the compressed air hissing.

I took the 08 Tour in for that recall/service yesterday.
I complained that after the earlier ECM the fuel mileage went down.
Cummins changed the ECM slightly and the service manager stated I should see a little better mileage.
Can't verify anything except what was told to me.
Going to Quartzsite in a few week, should know something then.

I would have sorta thought most owners wanting to check mileage accurately, would use hand-calculated figures, rather than trusting what the MPG computer claims - the one in my Dodge/Cummins is usually several MPG different than reality...

That method is the least accurate in my case. When I fill the tank I never know if it is "full" or not. The coach is rarely level and the fill pipes enter the tank on the ends below the top. There are fill pipes on both sides and the tank runs the width of the coach so any little lean will either allow you to get more or less in depending on which side you're filling from. It is far more accurate for me to use the engine computer which used acrtual consumption of fuel and calculates the mileage for you. Since I use the computers data to determine how much I've used I don't even look at that useless piece of junk they call a fuel guage on the dash any more. I like to stop when I've used a little over 60 gal.

I still believe that by far the most accurate mpg data is simply to take the number of miles dirven for the YEAR or longer period and divide by the total number of gallons of diesel purhased. Computers are notoriously inaccurate, just as was mentioned filling once or twice and using that because of the level issue, filler height, backfeed from fast pumps etc. just my experience, yours may differ. I guess I am behind the times on this recall. What engines were on the recall list? I don't think anyone said in this thread, that I can see.

Hand calculations would have shown a person that they were not getting 12, if your true milage was 8, 9, or 10. Unlevel coach, twin fills, backflow= 3-4 mpg?

If you have trouble w/fuel fill regularity, do the best you can each of 4 consecutive times at >60% fill-up (i.e. <40% full when gassing up), then average over the total mileage for that period. That should provide a clean enough check on computer info to verify or refute.

Granted the computer should be pretty close to dead on. However, the early 07 engine builds prove the old GIGO principle works for programming the ECU. If the formula is wrong, or the sensor inputs are not interpreted correctly, the report is Garbage Out.

I called cummins about this and they say I had it done in Aug. 2007 on my 2006 HR Endeavor with the ISL 400 engine. I hope it is the same one you are talking about.
