Diesel scan gauge
Does anybody know anything about the diesel scan gauges? If you do are they worth buying?
Thanks

I run the scangauge d, and it is worth the price the first time you have a code and need to read it.
Wouldn't leave home without it

I have the scan gauge D as well. I (knock on wood) have never thrown code, does the scan gauge instantly tell you have a code or do you have to navigate around to find it? Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.

For my 2003 chevy duramax I run the scangauge ii. I believe that is what you would run as well.

Yes you know right away. It shows up even when the cel is not lit. I was getting a code on my allison every start. Found the reason: I was not waiting long enough for the allison to "boot" before cranking. I now wait 5 seconds even if my glow plugs are already warm and no more code.

If you have a smart phone, download the paid app called Torque. Combined with a ODB bluetooth dongle gives you all the sale features for way less money

On our 500HP ISM Cummins I use both Cummins Quick check 3 but it does require a PDA to work with it. It also gives a lot of engine info. plus codes. Problem is with PDA working all the time. I also bought less then a year ago a SPX OTC HD engine code scan tool. Works on all HD Diesels with either 6 or 9 pin connector. Cost about 500$ but I have used it both on ours and other RV engines. Works great but it's not for pickup trucks because they have OBD2 computer which makes it much easier to read. Tom

It should as long as you have the 6 or 9 pin adapter under your dash. Literature says works on any diesel with those connectors.

I will have to checkout the adapter on my Freightliner chassis.

The adapter is round and about the size of a 50 cent piece and has either 6 or 9 connectors. Mine was below dash right under steering wheel on holiday rambler. The scanguage really monitors lots of engine functions for the small price tag it carries. I've had mine a year and still don't know everything it does.
