Difference between Cummins ISBe and ISB-02?

Can anyone explain the difference between the ISBe and the ISB-02 engine?

ISB (like found in the HO Cummins Dodge 2002) was a hybrid of mechanical and electrical components it had limited enviro controls.
ISBE (like found in the HO 6.7 Cummins RAM) is a full tier 3 and possibly tier 4, depending on model year. The trouble here is that the enviro stuff fails regularly in non-ideal conditions. IE don't bother running short trips and don't run long trips in the cold... the O2 sensors don't like it, the freeze and stuff breaks. It eventually falls off and things run much better.

Yep, as arrow said:
The ISB after 2005 is the 6.7 liter and will have full emission (except DEF) controls and they also have Variable vein Turbos and are prone to deposit accumulation.
Older ISBs are the 5.9 and have common rail inj

ISB was not common rail in '02. In '03 it became the ISBE ( which was common rail) and was a 5.9L. In 2010 the ISBE was made to a 6.7L with no DEF fluid but with a DPF until '13 when it came then had the DEF added to be fully tier 4 compliant. When it comes to pickups the '09 is one of the best motors. My '12 is great too and I love the creature comforts inside but the enviro sensors can be a pain in the rear in the cold.

There were quite a bit of differences when the products were made available for trucks and when they might have been first seen in RVs.

But, I stand corrected, the 6.7 production started in 2007

And first year for CR was 2003.

ISBe was what we call the European ones. ISB was the name for all the electronic 3.9, 4.5, 5.9, and 6.7 electronic on highway engines. The original was the ISB CM 55x with various fuel pumps, then the ISB CM850 (common rail 5.9 (2002 emissions), then the ISB 6.7 CM2150 (07 emissions) then CM 2250 (2010 emission, then CM2350 (2013 emissions). You had an ISBe 3.9 and 4.5 out there, which are the 5.9 and 6.7 missing 2 cylinders. Before those you had the 6B5.9 and the 4B3.9 mechanical engines. There was even the ISB 5.9 LPG. Cummins will be dropping the IS part of the marketing model names soon though. Here's an awesome consumer site for info on Cummins engines: https://cumminsengines.com/
