Unless the turbo needs to be removed to access the EGR cooler, I would leave it alone. There really isn't anything inside the turbo that can be serviced, or cleaned with any degree of effectiveness that would restore or increase any performance it may have lost. The turbo is attached to the exhaust manifold using 4 studs and 4 anti-vibration nuts. Exhaust parts are repeatedly subjected to thermal cycling and are notoriously difficult to disassemble while keeping the parts in tact during the process. It isn't at all uncommon for one or more of those studs to break off inside the manifold during the turbo removal process and at that point you can add a new manifold & associated labor to the total repair.
X2 for the Cummins Power Club.
