Engine temp gauge sending unit

1996 American Eagle 8.3L Temp gauge started jumping around. Thinking loose wire or sending unit. Would think it is around the thermostat housing but don't see it there. Where is it?

On my '95 Cummins, the temp sending unit is on the engine block below the turbo. I had a wire come loose and it caused the gauge to register correctly one minute and zero reading the next. I hope this helps.

I would make shure you have a good ground.
You can go hear and register your engine and see where thee sending unit is located.

Thanks for the reply's. Have already been to Cummins quickserve and registered. Found plenty of info but nothing on sensor locations. Going to call the chassis maker tomorrow. They sure got it hid.

I have this diagram of a 12 valve Cummins , think it's 5.9 shows the location as back of cylinder head on the intake side , I remember changing a few on early Dodge /Cummins , before the intro of the 24 valve engines.
Maybe a common location on the 8.3.
