Fuel additive
My boater friend is strongly recommending that I use Stanadyne plus (blue label) in my cummins ISb 5.9 engine. Do any of you use it?

I am very happy Cummins is endorsing these products. I have first had real results from the cleaner in the gray bottle. I have a Cat backhoe and it had been idling irregularly when a load was applied almost stalling out. I treated my transfer tank of 100 gallons with one bottle of this treatment and ran through all my machines. The irregular idling cleared up completely. I have always used the white bottle for anti gel in winter but will say first hand, the cleaner works. I now run it occasionally year round in all machines and our rv. I don't treat each and every tank but off and on all year. Glad to hear additives for our cummins engines is finally recommended and acknowledged as effective!

I have been using this product for five years in our 360hp ISB coach. One bottle at every fill up.

Driving Big Truck for many years, Diesel Kleen was always the 'go to' additive, esp. in winter.

Actually Cummins not only endorsed a previous product but sold it under their label. I bought a few cans of it at the Cummins dealer a few years ago. I don't have the product or cans anymore but it did come in a Cummins can with their label on it.

I recommend an additive, the problems we are seeing at work with fuel right now is pretty scary. The latest is salt accumulating in our separators, its a bi product from the manufacturing process and the piping while in manufacturing. It looks like fuel colored Kosher salt. After getting Diesel Bugs last year after filling up at a Loves travel plaza without an additive now.

OP - Your 5.9 was designed to run on Pre ULSD's good old Type II diesel. The shift to ULSD, reduced Cetane and Lubrication.
I have an 03 built ISL370 CAPS era engine, also designed for Pre ULSD.
-I add OptiLube (Usually Summer Blend, but have some of their other stuff too.). This helps with Lubricity (Pretty important for the CAPS health in my coach.), and a bit of Cetane too.
-As needed based upon weather (High Humidity) and or parking the coach for storage - I also add Biobor JF - to help control moisture.
-In my traveling case of fluids, I also have other means of chemical warfare to help if I get a bad tank of fuel...
I consider the OptiLube and Biibor JF to be cheap insurance.
Best to you, travel safe,
Smitty

Smitty, chemical warfare . I can relate, I have quite a selection along with filters and tools to change them.

In Canada we have anti-gel added in diesel fuel, at the pump, but boy did I find out the hard way winter of 2015/2016 in my 2007 5.9 Dodge (pulling 36ft 5er) about no anti-gel in the US. Coming back home I had fuel starve problems. Turned out all I had to do was add additive - no anti-gel in the USA even up north.
I run these Power Service stuff in my coach now - just the diesel keen though. I don't believe the dose is one bottle for a tank of 130gals though. I thought it was less.
