Mine is doing the same thing I tracked it down to a sticking fuel shut off solenoid. No big deal and easy fix. Lift bed and find the p pump fuel sol. Have someone crank engine and see if the sol. moves all the way

Finally the correct answer: you need a new solenoid.
Have the wife turn the key on while you watch the movement of the fuel shutoff arm. Once it stops moving see if you can move it further...very likely and then try starting.
Ok everyone, I need some more assistance. I went to the coach this past weekend and wanted to hook up the batteries and turn some lights on and fire up the generator but I ran into too many problems for the amount of time that I had. Hopefully I can get this done this coming weekend.
However, I did manage to get into the coach and lift the bed up. Long story short, our mattress is sooo heavy that I had to hold it up with one arm while trying to search for everything. I ended up just pulling out my phone and snapping pictures that I hope you guys can tell me exactly where to look next time.
I think that the first picture has what looks to be the star wheel access so I think this is the P7100 Mechanical Fuel Pump. I assume this from looking at the images Skip426 shared about the different fuel systems.
Ivylog: Can you point me to exactly where the fuel shutoff arm and solenoid are located? It would really help me. Here are my pictures.
The solenoid is a lift and lock mechanism , power from the starter lifts the solenoid to open the fuel flow arm on the pump, power from the ignition switch locks the solenoid in the run position ; as per the wiring diagram.
In your coach you may have a better view of the solenoid operation from under the coach.

The Fuel Shutdown Solenoid could be the culprit for hard start, but I suspect it would affect every starting event. Not just cold starts.
I had a similar problem, but it was just a loose ground connection to the FSS that I accidentally found and fixed. But the loose ground would not allow the engine to start at all.
If the rod on the FSS is dirty, gunky it may not be retracting all the way to the "Start" position at first try.
However, it is also possible air is getting into your fuel system when sitting for an extended period.
The mechanical fuel pump is slow to fill the system and get the air purged as you should not keep the ignition key engaged for more than 30 seconds.
Check your fuel filters for tight fit.
Check your metal fuel line for a crack. (Mine broke due to vibration caused by a loose clamp. That will stop your rig quickly or at minimum hard start.)
The two above steps are much easier than fiddling with the FSS as I have done two times. Hopefully air is your problem.

Fuel shut off solenoid. Common issue. If you experience it again, just simply crawl under it, with the key on, and push the lever up manually with a 3 inch pipe or long pry bar. The arm will lock into place and it will fire up immediately.
They only last about 2 to 3 years, when a coach sits over the winters, typically.

Mine is much easer to get at from above. It is at the top rear of the P Pump. Mine is within an arms reach from above. Mine is a 4 wire not a 3 wire someone posted.
