???? Has anyone used a 3rd party reman caps pump

I am considering using a reman caps pump to replace my bad Cummins pump as the cost is almost half and the warranty is twice as long. the shop that has the coach suggested that may be a good way to go.

Is the warranty " Nation Wide " and does it include labor .

Some aftermarket re-mans are regional and parts only.

A friend of mine who is a certified Cummins guy says that the non Cummins pumps are just as good as the expensive pump.

In my case, with me sitting in a Cummins shop, I don't think they would install a non Cummins part so I am stuck

One of my peeves is that they did such a poor job designing that system in the first place are they to be trusted to do the reman with the same mind set.

I would do some research on the recommended shop, if close visit and look over their operation, appearance, etc. And talk to them personally, you can learn a lot. If there are pickups around try to quiz an owner or two. We have a shop near which pulls business from out of state, and lots of performance Clients.. Dave

John,

I doubt Cummins rebuilds their CAPS pump, they're probably sent out for rebuilding and testing. I would go online and do some research on the company doing the rebuilding. After replacement I would run with Opti-lube and a better fuel pump. Low fuel flow doesn't help these pumps.

Hey everyone. I had a leaking accumulator which was fixed so no problem. In the process I was looking for a rebuilt pump and this place I had talked to several times while I was trouble shooting ours. They also have a shop to fix onsite. I have no affiliation just seems like they know these pumps and were great on the phone.

I had my Caps Pump fixed (partial rebuild) last year. The truck shop that did mine ordered the parts from Cummins (whole top of pump electronic part) that came in a kit and it was expensive. $1800. for parts and I think I could have got the part I needed without the kit at a jobber for less money. If it gives any more problems I would definitely try BK. Good info.
