How do I keep my motor from starting?
Hi all,
I am replacing my hydraulic fan motor and it calls for turning over the motor for 30 sec. on start up twice to bleed air out of the system.
I have an ISL 400, 2006.
What is the best way to keep the motor from starting??

I would remove the fuse for the fuel pump.

Why would it matter if it started and idled for 30 seconds before switching off

Yes push the big red button. It will shut engine down and allow it to still crank.
Remember though, when you go to pull button out, you must rotate and pull at same time. Just pulling straight out won't allow it to come out. It is a safety feature.

Thanks
It say to turn the motor over slowly to prevent cavatation in the cooling/steering hydraulic system.
I do not have a red button, but I do have engine elect. shut off switch. I had assumed that the switch in the off position will not allow the engine to turn over, but I will give it a try before starting the job.

I would just start it and let it idle (uh oh did I just say that) shut it down and check oil level. The canister holds a good bit so it shouldn't be a problem.
